NYX Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandt Square opens as a cultural meeting place in the city
With the opening of NYX Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandt Square on June 25, Amsterdam is gaining more than just a new hotel. The first NYX Hotel in the Benelux combines hospitality, art and culture in a destination designed to bring people together. Located near Rembrandt Square, the hotel embraces a role that extends beyond accommodation. Through a dedicated cultural programme, a permanent art collection and hospitality concepts focused on connection and experience, the hotel aims to contribute to the city’s creative energy. The concept reflects a broader hospitality trend in which hotels are increasingly evolving into destinations, community hubs and platforms for local talent.

A hotel concept with a local identity
NYX Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandt Square is housed in a historic building on Amstelstraat, in an area long associated with artists, writers and performers. This heritage serves as the foundation of the hotel’s concept. Rather than operating solely as a place to stay, the hotel seeks to engage with Amsterdam’s creative community and provide space for new initiatives, collaborations and cultural exchange.
To support this ambition, Rocky Khedoe has been appointed Community & Vibe Manager. In this role, he is responsible for developing programmes that bring together art, fashion, music and creative entrepreneurs. The goal is to create meaningful connections between hotel guests and local residents while strengthening the hotel’s ties to the city.
Art as part of the guest experience
A key feature of the concept is the permanent art collection curated by Natasha Grant. Throughout the hotel, guests will find works by Dutch artists including Alkan Kartal, Madelon Uljee, Eveline Schram, Monique Spapens, Kees Dekkers and Alex Covert.
The collection is designed to be more than a visual backdrop. Visitors can explore the artworks through an audio tour that provides insights into the artists, their work and their connection to Amsterdam. By integrating art into the guest journey, the hotel adds an additional cultural layer to the overall experience.

NYX Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandt Square | Two hospitality concepts under one roof
The social heart of the hotel is Clash Bar & Bites. Featuring a bold urban design, the venue serves cocktails and shareable dishes inspired by unexpected combinations and contrasting flavours. The space also hosts exhibitions, DJ performances and other creative programming throughout the year.
Located in the basement, the Record Club offers a more intimate setting centred around vinyl culture, listening sessions and spoken-word performances. Together, the two venues create a blend of hospitality, entertainment and culture that responds to the growing demand for experience-driven destinations.
Trend: hotels are becoming social hubs
The opening of NYX Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandt Square highlights the changing role of hotels within urban environments. While accommodation remains important, the focus is increasingly shifting towards community building, cultural engagement and memorable experiences. By providing a platform for local creatives and combining multiple functions under one roof, the hotel presents a model that appeals to both travellers and city residents alike.
