Restaurant LIMA NIKKEI in Antwerp opens a second location | WAYK’U

Belgium’s only Nikkei concept (Japanese-Peruvian cuisine) is planning an upgrade of its menu and will bet on street food with WAYK’U. WAYK’U will open its doors this summer, at the quays of Antwerp. LIMA NIKKEI is an izakaya-style Japanese-Peruvian Nikkei concept by Mayra Linares and her husband Luis Garcia, together with chef Diego Salas. WAYK’U means ‘cooking’ in Quechua, the language of the Incas. Read more about their concept on their website, link in the title.

Corona invites its customers to monitor Mexico’s coasts with beach pics of beer bottles

In a novel move to support coastal conservation efforts, Mexican beer brand Corona has embarked on a citizen science initiative that invites every customer to become a Guarda Costas and actively participate in tracking the health of Mexico’s beaches. By snapping photos of Corona bottles on beaches with the sea in the backdrop and submitting them to the company’s website, anyone can provide valuable data for researchers working to understand and combat the negative impacts of climate change and other factors on coastal areas. Espresso Tonic anyone?

Could you imagine the espresso tonic to be your new warm weather beverage obsession? The combination of espresso and tonic water originated in Sweden in the early eighties, allegedly created by a barista at Koppi Roasters in 2007. It entered in barista competitions and we wonder if we will see this drink on the menu at some terraces this summer. Check out the article of Food and Wine for images and a recipe, link in the title.

A gelato burger by Badiani in London

Badiani has 9 ice cream shops in London and we spotted the Instagram post below about their ‘Gelato Burger’ or as ‘The Italian Foodaholic’ stated it reminded her of the Sicilian “brioche con gelato”. It’s a brioche bun, slightly toasted and filled with gelato of your choice. You can find it in all Badiani branches. Over the past few years we spotted more buns + ice cream combinations but it’s kind of special they even toast the brioche with the ice-cream inside.

Farm-to-terminal dining concept and tech enhanced hospitality at Denver International Airport

OTG, the hospitality group responsible for transforming the airport dining experience across the USA, recently announced the 2024 opening of two food and beverage concepts within Denver International Airport’s United Airlines Concourse B-East. This initial entry into the Denver market will include the introduction of Sunset Loop Bar & Grill, as well as Starbucks. OTG will also integrate its mobile-first technology, flo™ Xgen, within the Concourse B-East experience, which will aim to streamline travel for customers while easing operations on in-terminal restaurants. The one-of-a-kind Sunset Loop Bar & Grill will be an all-day dining experience offering elevated, health-conscious cuisine and traditional American fare, with a locally sourced menu overseen by Denver-based Chef Daniel Young (“Chef D”). We love the term Farm-to-terminal dining! More details in their press release, link in the title.
