Heineken Hoek on Leidseplein in Amsterdam gets a new bistro concept | hearty food without fuss
The former steakhouse on the first floor of the Heineken Hoek is making way for a living room bistro for everyone. Heineken Hoek Bistro is an accessible neighbourhood restaurant with French influences where you can drop in for a quick bite before the theatre, but also enjoy an extensive meal with oysters and a good bottle of wine. Unpretentious, but always with an eye for quality, right in the middle of the bustling Leidseplein. Check out their website in the link in the title.
Central Perk Coffeehouse is coming to Times Square this fall
Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and CenPer Holdings are bringing the iconic FRIENDS hangout to life with a modern twist. The café will feature exceptional coffee, food, exclusive merchandise, and the famous Orange Sofa room. Following Boston’s success, New York’s first Central Perk invites fans and visitors to create unforgettable moments in the city where FRIENDS began.
Belgium Sake Festival on Octobre 4 & 5 in Antwerp
Sake Master Jonas Kellens once again is bringing together the absolute best of the sake world – this time at a new location in the heart of Antwerp. The Sake festival will be festively opened with a “Kagami Biraki” ceremony with the Japanese ambassador present. The first 250 visitors will receive a free sake in a wooden “masu”. Last year, the festival welcomed over 1,500 visitors. On Friday 4 and Saturday 5 October 2025, in honour of World Sake Day (October 1st), the beautiful Jacques Event Venue (Reyndersstraat 6, Antwerp) will be transformed into the epicentre of sake culture in Europe. More than 1,000 tickets have already been sold one month before the event and 150 masterclasses have been sold in advance. More details on their website, link in the title. Restaurant Suus in The Hague has a new chef and the Suusje deli has opened
Restaurant Suus, the restaurant of Hotel De Plesman and culinary hotspot in The Hague, has a new chef and a new menu. Chef Kyan van Bommel has experience in various renowned restaurants and is now bringing his experience to Suus. The menu consists of fresh, refined dishes, such as heirloom tomato salad with burrata and Hokkaido scallop with grapefruit granita. In addition, Suusje, Suus’s new deli, has opened, where you can enjoy coffee, fresh bread and delicacies to take away. We wrote about Restaurant Suus earlier. Link to their website in the title.
Scarlet Letter cocktail at Mr. Fogg’s
In August, Robin van Spronsen wrote a blog about ‘tiny gestures’ at cocktail bars. This cocktail from Mr. Fogg’s in London would have fit in perfectly. Radisson Hotel Group opens Radisson Collection The National Hotel, Brussels, located at the prestigious The National Golf Brussels, 15 minutes from the city centre. The hotel has 150 rooms, including 30 suites, and was designed by architect Olivier Dwek. Guests enjoy sustainable luxury thanks to an advanced geothermal system. Facilities include the Stoke Grill House & Brasserie restaurant, eight meeting rooms and a roof terrace. A fun initiative in New York: ‘The NYC Bakery Run’ is taking place this weekend with 100 ‘lucky runners’ who will run past eight top bakeries and receive free pastries at each one.
