Funny April Fools’ Day jokes! | Inspiration for next year

Just two brilliant April Fools’ Day pranks that actually worked, according to those who pulled them off. Like the Friturette from Snacksalon De Schelp in Roelofarendsveen. It was supposedly a compact tabletop mini-fryer that would let you and your friends, family or colleagues fry your own favourite snacks and chips exactly to your liking: fresh, crispy and just the way you want them. And they received quite a few enquiries; the Friturette did look rather cosy too!

And also really cool: the orange oysters for restaurant Pesca in Amsterdam. According to their reel, the oysters were fed the microalgae Trentepohlia Umbrina at the Oesterij; this is a microalgae that naturally produces an orange pigment, causing them to gradually turn orange in time for King’s Day. It would have been a first in Dutch oyster farming. 😉 Great idea!

Five years of Aroma in a menu with nineteen scenes

Restaurant Aroma is closing and is offering a special way to say goodbye. A final evening at the table in April and May. Since 2 April, chef Pasquale has been presenting a menu in nineteen scenes, each rooted in a memory, a flavour or an encounter from five years of Aroma. A personal retrospective in a single menu, ‘ATTO 19’. Chef Pasquale would like to say ‘arrivederci’ to his guests in person. Book via restaurant-aroma.nl.

Pup flight or a Bark-cuterie by Wasserhund Brewing Company

A reel by Wasserhund Brewing Company about a Dappy Dayz pop-up happening at their Chesapeake location in the US. A pop-up with gourmet chews, adorable bark-cuterie, and boutique treats your dog will go wild for.

Wasserhund Brewing Company was created out of love for German beer, creative food and gathering with family and friends. Owners Aaron and Christine opened Wasserhund Brewing Company’s doors in August of 2015 in their hometown of Virginia Beach. They were excited to grow the pack with a location in Chesapeake in August 2021. Since then they also opened a location at Norfolk. Check out their website, link in the title.

We think that every dog food producer has to create a ‘Bark-cuterie’ to pop-up at restaurants at locations where they allow dogs!

KFC turns its restaurant totems into giant kebabs to launch its new döner

KFC is entering the kebab category in Spain, using the classic fast-food restaurant signage as its main communication channel. The campaign, developed by PS21, transforms the brand’s iconic totems into giant kebab rotisseries, playing on the visual similarity between the totem pole and a traditional meat skewer.

The launch is rounded out with a limited-edition menu featuring kebab, dürüm, falafel, and fries with kebab sauce, presented with graphics inspired by the visual codes of neighborhood kebabs, making it easy for consumers to immediately recognize this global culinary phenomenon. The products are available for a limited time at KFC restaurants across Spain, as well as through the KFC app and website. More details in their press release, link in the title.

Fastfood-chain Family kicks off the new season with exciting seasonal specials

A new season brings new products to Family locations in the Netherlands. With a range of seasonal specials, the chain is keeping pace with current food trends and guests’ preferences. New to the menu is the Peanut Butter Shake, developed in collaboration with De Pindakaaswinkel.

Following the Beef Smashburger comes the Chicken Smashburger: a double chicken burger with lettuce, tomato, double cheddar and chipotle mayonnaise. There is also a lighter option with the Carpaccio Salad. The specials are available for a limited time at participating Family branches.
