Breakfast, lunch or drinking cocktails in the sky.. Nowadays it’s all possible. Approximately 40 sky high franchise around the world serve dinners at a height of 180 foot. A table for 22 people is lifted by a crane to a height of 180 foot with three staff in the middle (chef, waiter, server) who provide dinner. A second crane with a platform (or more if desired) at the same height as the table is possible, for entertainment such as music or presentations. This brings dinner to a totally different level. Dinner in the sky started as a publicity stunt six years ago, and has become a huge success. The company also offers marriage, lounge and showbiz in the sky.

In response to our previous article about ‘Foodem‘ appears that we also have an online marketplace for suppliers and byers in the Netherlands, namely ‘Vers 24/7’. ‘Vers 24/7’ is part of Deli XL and started in September 2012. It’s an online platform for specialists and the hospitality sector, without the intervention of wholesale. Every fresh specialist has its own profile where he can determine his assortment and price range. ‘Vers 24/7’ transports the products of the specialist to the hospitality sector. At the moment the platform consist of more than 75 specialists including meat, fish, cheese but also Dutch wines. With this platform, regional products become more accessible for the hospitality sector.

They can choose from a range of meals, salads, bread, drinks and desserts. Finding a cheap hotel is not always easy, but with the suitcase ‘Hotello’ you can easily set up your own hotel room or workplace anywhere. The suitcase on wheels does not immediately look like a bedroom, but when you unpack the suitcase you transform a empty building in a hotel room. This flexible room can be placed in just any empty space. The suitcase contains a bed, desk with chair and a storage. The ‘Hotello’ is developed by Roberto de Luca and Antonio Scarponi for the Swiss company Daskonzept. The big question is who is going to facilitate space to unpack this ‘suitcase’. No more waiting for two hours until your laundry is finished in an boring launderette… Two young advertisers Dries Henau and Yuri Vandenbogaerde launched the new concept the ‘Wasbar’ in Gent last October. The concept is simple, the ‘Wasbar’ is a combination of a launderette and a pub. While you have to wait for your laundry, you can drink something, eat breakfast or lunch, browse on the web, meet friends or even have your hair cut. On some evenings you can eat tapas and concerts are organized. What started on a small scale, turned into a great success. They soon will soon open a second location of the concept in Antwerp and a third in Leuven. There is also a request to franchise.. Look also at the launderette in Amsterdam.

Urban agriculture becomes more popular. The municipality of Rotterdam encourages the construction of green roofs. The terrace of Restaurant Engels is situated on the roof of the ‘Groothandelsgebouw’ in Rotterdam. Herbs, vegetables and plants grow between the tables. The restaurant serves drinks, snacks and salads, and during the summer they will organize evenings like salsa dancing, talk shows and more. A very special place with a spectacular view and also sustainable.

‘Prachtig’ in Rotterdam has been upgraded from grand café to bar-restaurant. The interior, the menu and even the view are renewed. They have chosen for a contemporary interior with an industrial look. The restaurant is characterized by the wall of raw bricks and the use of natural and raw materials. There is a self-designed cabinet where Italian hams and sausages from Italy hang to dry. The menu has a touch of Italy, during the summer ‘Prachtig’ will organize the City Barbecues.
