From the beginning of 2012, passengers of KLM can choose their own neighbour by selecting an interesting contact through using Facebook of LinkedIn. After check-in, passengers can open up their profiles. In 2012 a pilot will be started.

Dutch desinger Tjep developed three new shops in the newly refurbished Departure Lounge of Schiphol airport in Amsterdam: House of Tulips, Say Cheese and Bread!. These three concepts, a flower shop, a cheese take-away shop and a bread restaurant, sell these typical Dutch products to promote the Ducth culture. Early September the official opening of these concepts took place. Watch the project here.

All suitcases should have two handles, one on the top and another on the side. This makes the carrying of suitcases much easier. Because not all suitcases have enough handles, Quirky designed a special strap. The strap is made for heavy duty work and is adjustable in size.

The company "Lonely Planet" has named the 1,000 most exceptional culinary food "must-see" locations. These spots are placed in their new guide 'Lonely Planet's 1000 Ultimate Sights'. In this guide, special locations like the Tokyo fish market, Donghuamen night market in Beijing, Roquefort caves in France or chocolate stores in Belgium are recommended.

The new app Tripanomanly calculates the reliablity of an airline or a flight. By entering several data and your flight number, the app shows how reliable the airline is. A 10 indicates a fully reliable flight, but when the outcome is a 1, you might want to think about skipping the flight. Watch the movie for an explanation.

The Austrian company Nectar and Pulse offers a new kind of 'travel guide'. When looking for tips and suggestions of a particular city, they choose a personal guide (as they call it a 'soulmate') who gives you tips. This 'soulmate' is chosen by similar interests and personalities. This service is currently available for Londen, Vienna and Stockholm.

The German organization Die Liebeskummerer is focusing on people that suffer from heartbreak. They organize holidays for groups from six to eight persons where they can recover from their their heartbreak, in which they are supported by a team of psychologists and coaches.

(Almost) didn't survive the wet summer? With this caravan you will survive. It is even created to make a trip on the water, although people may look surprised when they see a floating caravan. Watch the movie on the website for an impression.  

Google has launched Hotel Finder, an experimental search tool that enables users to define key lodging preferences to find the perfect hotel for their travel needs. Users fill in their preferred location, dates, price and rating details, and Hotel Finder delivers its top recommendations in a list or on a Google Map. For the moment, it's only available in the U.S.A. As far as we could see there are some new trics that make the search easier but it shows a lot of comparison to the search tools from for example Expedia and Bookings.
