Overlooking the rooftops of Belgravia and Knightsbridge, and with sweeping views of Hyde Park and Winter Wonderland, The Berkeley’s rooftop garden will once again transform into a twinkling festive forest cinema. Guests will snuggle into wooden huts laden with blankets to watch Christmas classics on the big screen whilst warming up with a menu of alpine and winter favourites and flowing Laurent-Perrier champagne for a touch of extra sparkle.  Screenings of festive favourites like ‘Home Alone’ and ‘The Holiday’ at the Rooftop Winter Cinema will take place from 15th November ~ 31st December 2019. Reservations will open today, November 4.

Great idea for other hotels with rooftops in the holiday season! Even cinemas could work together with restaurants to surprise their guests with the combination of watching a great ‘holiday season’ movie while enjoying a great meal.

The Dessert Bar in New York City | A sushi bar for sweet tooths

18-10-2018

It’s a bit long the video above, but one foodies really have to check out! Besides the fact that it’s a professional video it also shows the ambition of London born culinary expert Rory Macdonald. Since March 2017, Rory Macdonald has opened Flatiron shop Patisserie Chanson. It’s a higher-end pastry shop or as they say themselves, “a patisserie by day and a dessert bar by night”. But guests can still regularly stop by for a breakfast pastry, a quick lunch, or even an afternoon tea. The Dessert Bar is an all-sweets tasting-menu restaurant in the shop’s lower floor. Another must visit spot in NYC for foodies and sweet tooths. read more

Food sculptures or designer cakes, some show an artistic and architectural approach to food like the KUFcakes. These are bespoke luxury cakes designed in close conjunction with the client. KUF stands for Kia Utzon-Frank who designs and creates her cakes by using a marzipan printer that creates patterns and imagery onto marzipan and fondant and cover the cakes to make edible sculptures that fit their surroundings. The artist indicates that taste is as important as the look. She hopes that the KUFcakes will make people curious and that the cakes will trigger them to start a conversation. read more
