Inspiration from 2009: French family picnic

50 fans of the Facebook of Domino’s Pizza and Ben & Jerry’s where invited for a family picknick. Both companies aimed to create a larger online community by organizing a lotery. During the picknick the fans got to to taste the new salads of Domino’s and the ice creams of Ben & Jerry’s.

Burger King opens Dessert Bar

Burger King opened  its first stand-alone Dessert Bar in a shopping mall in London.  At the Dessert Bar you can buy pancakes, brownies, cakes, muffins and ice cream. If the bar proves to be a success more will follow in the United Kingdom.

Pancake Princess in Paris

Two weeks ago a pancake house for real princesses opened in the Marais district in Paris. The Princess Crèpe restaurant is designed so that you feel like you’re in a princess fairytale. At Princess Crèpe restaurant serves pancakes, but also other sweets like ice cream and pastries.

After butchers, bakersy and ice cream vendors, there is now a chocolatier that twitters, bloggs and facebooks. Until recently Vander Donk Fine Chocolates in Amsterdam only had online shop but opened its first store this week. Vander Donk uses social media to provide information about its activities and shares recipes on Facebook and Twitter.

Unox shop at NS-station

On November 3rd Unilever and NS started a Unox shop at the trainstation in Den Bosch, The Netherlands. In this shop travelers can enjoy winterly-like meals, such as traditional Dutch pea soup. The Unox-shop is an initiative of the NS-subsidiary Servex and Unilever Food Solutions. When winter is over, the shop will be replaced bij Swirl’s Ice Cream.

Although reported before, it remains a welcoming gesture to make your own choice of pastries when having coffee. At Restaurant Le Phebus you can pick your choice from a trolley with excessive choice of several kinds of cookies, lollipops and ice cream. No more small plates with cookies, half of which you don’t eat or know if it is touched before or not.
