Demi Poppe blogs about her experience with extra amenities, such as free tampons and naps in bathrooms. She and her friends greatly appreciated this welcoming gesture.

I regularly visit restaurants, cafés and bars with friends, either for lunch, dinner or just a nice cup of coffee. I recently visited Grandcafé ‘t Gerecht in Heerenveen (The Netherlands). One of my friends had to go to the toilet and she came back with a big smile! She said that there were free tampons and naps in the bathroom. So handy! read more

We are in the dark days before Christmas, with real Dutch weather. A little bit of once or twice and mostly wind and rain. Time to create a ‘Christmassy’ restaurant! In September we always give an overview of what we have spotted in the previous Christmas period for inspiration. Below our colleague Max van Oeveren has made a list of small examples up to the great Christmas tree at Claridge’s Hotel in London and special Christmas decorations, as inspiration for hotels, restaurants, bars and of course for at home.

This is the last article on Horecatrends for this year. We wish you a warm, cozy holiday season and lots of inspiration and happiness in 2019. For those who have to work in the hospitality industry, we wish you many nice guests!

Every foodie who has ever been to Paris knows the Parisian confectioners Fauchon, they’re best known for their delicious and beautifully crafted desserts and pastries. Their ‘Maison de gourmets’ has been around since 1889 and on the first of September this year they launched their first hotel in Paris, member of the Leading Hotels of the World and located at Boulevard Malesherbes. The motto of this 5-star hotel is ‘Fauchon Glamour’ or in short G.L.A.M. In which the ‘G’ stands for Gourmandise (Glam’Hours and even a Bar Gourmet in the room) and the ‘L’ stands for Location, in the center of Paris, a historical building, near theaters and le quartier Saint-Honoré and la place Vendome for shopping.  The ‘A’ stands for Attentions, great service and small gestures that make a difference and the ‘M’ stands for Mesdames, delicate and subtle design with a female touch. The famed patisserie announced plans to launch a chain of 20 boutique hotels. The brand plans to expand their hospitality into other locations across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.
