Eberhardjes are cookies named after the kind, former mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan. The Eberhardjes stand for positivity and connection and they’re looking for ‘Lieve Amsterdammers’ (kind citizens of Amsterdam). During Amsterdam’s 750 anniversary year, anyone can nominate a kind fellow citizen through the Eberhardjes website. These people will be honoured in an online Hall of Fame with beautiful portraits.
Entrepreneurs can support the campaign by becoming a pick-up location and displaying promotional materials at their location.

NORRA recently opened its doors in Bilthoven, offering three different menus and a power lunch. In Amsterdam, Gyojasang promises a full Korean dining and experience concept, with authentic dishes, cocktails, private karaoke rooms and a photobooth. The opening is planned for early May. Meanwhile, in Bruges, smashburger hotspot MOSH! will open at the end of May. Founders Tom Degroote and Pieter Vermeersch – childhood friends from the hardcore music scene – are combining their passion for artisanal smashburgers, natural wine, and music.

Every day we spot fun, new concepts. This week, three new concepts, in Scheveningen and two in our “own” city of Leiden. After successful establishments at Market 27 and Market 33, two urban food stations in Amsterdam, Granelli is now also serving its artisanal Italian dishes in the lively Foodhall Scheveningen. ‘Bij Daaf & Maan’ is a cosy coffee and lunch shop in a characteristic corner building on the Nieuwe Rijn in Leiden, where you can enjoy creative coffees, fresh tea and local sweets. And late last year, Café de Gaper opened at Rapenburg 97 in Leiden. And there they are making guests happy with delicious food, fine wines, affordable and a casual ambiance.

Every day, we spot fun, new concepts. This week, three new concepts from Meppel, The Hague and Hilversum. Restaurant Element in the old gas factory in Meppel has 34 seats. Chef Niels Noorman serves a fine dining menu and Joleen Dannenburg takes care of the wines, many of which she serves by the glass. Restobar Moos located on the Fred in The Hague is the first restaurant of Shimo Verbaan, the owner of FourParties Horeca Uitzendbeau. The restobar is also directly opposite the office, ideal for the Friday office drinks! And Emmanuelle recently opened in Hilversum, a new hotspot where the seductive charm of French cinema meets classic French cuisine. With on the menu, for example, ‘rillettes de carnard’, ‘truite fumé maison’, ‘escargots gratinés’, ‘moules frites’ and ‘côte de boeuf’.
