A new purple strawberry ‘Purple Wonder’ was unveiled by the W. Atlee Burpee Company this week at the Philadelphia International Flower Show. The strawberry was actually bred by horticulturists at Cornell University but Burpee will have exclusive rights to market the plant to home gardeners.

Food for the restaurant comes from the central structure and directly adjacent fields. They combine fun with usefulness. Hotel guests are also the farmers, when you work, you can stay for free. Oogst 1000 does also has the worlds first toilets that are linked to a bio-gas energy system and were you actually get paid € 0.50 per visit.
McDonald’s is testing a pilot where motorists can watch the menu, place an order and pay through their naviagtion system in their cars. The order can be picked up at the nearest McDonald’s drive-in.

Dutch Baker Marcel Spelt made bread from Oosterscheldewater (estuary in the Netherlands). He introduced it at the “horecabeurs Goes”. “Bread of the Sea” tastes salty and contains 30% less salt than ordinary salted bread.

Students in the Netherlands can ask their parents in a funny way out for dinner by sending an e-card of Culinairewinstpakker. The students can eat for free when they bring their parents. At the moment it’s only available for the four biggest student cities Delft, The Hague, Leiden and Rotterdam.
