Tree houses aren’t only fun for children but also for families to spend their holidays. There are more and more accommodations located in tree houses. A new crowd funding project is the ‘Treehouse Island‘. An island where guests can sleep, seek zip line thrills and hike in the woods. Legoland Hotel opened in US

In California the first Legoland hotel in the United States has been opened. The Legoland hotel has 250 rooms and each room is decorated after one of the three themes: pirate, adventure or kingdom. The children have their own separate room with bunk bed and a treasure hunt game. The hotel is not entirely build out of tiny bricks, but it does have 3,400 sculptures created with approximately 3 million Lego pieces. For example the wall behind the check-in desk is entirely made of Lego bricks, but also the potted plant on the counter. The hotel guests can also enter the Lego Park, that is located besides the hotel. Watch the video about the hotel. 

Yoga in parking garage

The building 11 11 in Miami Beach, Florida is a beautiful example of an elastic environment. The building is designed to function as a parking garage as well as a venue for weddings, wine tastings, yoga classes and more. The building can ouse up to 300 cars but the seven floor structure can easily be transformed to suit a variety of purposes. The building is developed by Robert Wennett and Herzog & de Meuron. The building features high ceilings and thanks to the absence of exterior wall it offers guests stunning views of the city.

Greenhouse on the roof of Whole Foods Market

Food store ‘Whole Foods Market’ and supplier ‘Gotham Greens’ are building a greenhouse farm of 20.000-square-foot on the roof of the forthcoming Whole Foods Market store in Brooklyn. Gotham Greens has been a valued local supplier of fresh produce and will grow in the greenhouse farm premium quality, pesticide-free produce. In this way Whole Foods Market can offer consumers the freshest leafy greens, herbs and tomatoes, year-round. Whole Foods also plans to offer educational opportunities for area students and local schools to learn about greenhouses and farming.

Robot entertaining in a restaurant

‘Robot Restaurant’ in Tokyo gives you a real entertaining during a dinner. The restaurant has four, 11.8-foot tall robots who are ‘fighting’ with each other. The robots are controlled by scantily clad women dancers and accompanied by loud electronic music. Building the robots and the interior of the restaurant did cost 125.8 million dollar. The entrance of the restaurant is $ 51 and even though there is nobody eating in this video, it does include dinner and drinks. The restaurant opened in august 2012.

BlueSpoon is located in the recently opened Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht hotel, a lifestyle and boutique hotel in Amsterdam. The Bluespoon Bar is inspired by the American Prohibition and gives you the atmosphere of a traditional pub in an international and dynamic environment. The cocktail bar serves hand-crafted cocktails made with traditional ingredients and focuses on the three different periods of the American Prohibition: pre-Prohibition, Prohibition and post-Prohibition’. The freshly picked herbs, fresh juices and carefully distilled liquors are processed in cocktails with funny names like ‘One Minute Delft Blue’ or ‘Lucky Librarian’.

Another list with special hotels this time by Tripadvisor. Tripadvisor gives an overview of ten quirky hotels all over the world. Like spending a night in a train station or on a oil rig. The photos are of the Costa Verde Hotel in Costa Rica. The hotel has renovated a vintage Boeing 727 from 1965 and transformed it into a hotel room with two bedrooms and a bathroom. Sleeping in the middle of the nature or high in the trees? That’s possible at hotel ‘Domaine du Tisserand’ in France. The hotel offers accommodation in a bubble. One bubble is placed 5 meters high in the trees and can be zipped open and closed. The other bubble is placed at the ground and is transparent. The bubbles provide a beautiful view of the green area and at night you can see the stars. For outdoors enthusiasts this is a wonderful accommodation. For those who prefer more comfort, the hotel also offers accommodation in suites.

The urban farm in Amsterdam-Noord will be a place where you can gather fresh produce and enjoy the green and productive scenery of the countryside in the middle of the city. At the farm products like fresh fruits, vegetables are grown and it will be a place where pigs and chickens are free to roam and graze. A team of 15 enthusiastic students and professionals have started to develop an economically viable business case for the urban farm. Currently, the enthusiasts behind the urban farm are looking for donations.
