This autumn, the deepest diving pool in the world will be put into operation near Warsaw (exactly in Mszczonów). The project is called Deepspot and is unique by its size, but also because of the transparency of water. Crystalline depth of 45 meters (8,000 cubic meters of water, 27 times as much as in ordinary 25-meter swimming pools!) will provide pool users with an extraordinary experience. Great place to practice your diving skills! lees verder

Created in collaboration with Whisperlodge, hotel Moxy NYC Chelsea recently announced the launch of exclusive titillating bedtime story videos for guests. Featuring Bella Thorne and Dani Thorne (COM3T), along with Caroline Vreeland, they are taking guests on a sensory-stimulating journey. The A.S.M.R. Bedtime story videos will be available at Midtown Manhattan’s boldest new hotel opening, Moxy NYC Chelsea by Marriott International, exclusively in-room for one month beginning April 15th. Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (A.S.M.R.) is a sensory phenomenon where viewers feel pleasurable tingles from specific visual, auditory and haptic triggers.

We were kind of surprised to watch the videos from Moxy’s NYC Chelsea A.S.M.R. Bedtime Stories! We don’t think we will fall asleep with the A.S.M.R. bedtime story (check the next page) but it might inspire us to go downstairs to eat something!

Trends we spotted | Week 15

  • Trends we spotted this week

At hospitalitytrends.eu we spot many national and international trends on a daily basis. We pick the most interesting ones to write about, the smaller trends we use in our weekly column ‘Trends we spotted this week’.

This week, among other links to articles about a lemon for dessert at LROOM Café in New York and Kubus croissants at Weirdoughs in Melbourne. We also came across a special, ‘jiggly’ pancake dessert at Gram Café and Pancakes in San Francisco and Airbnb signed an agreement to acquire the HotelTonight website.

And would you have your saliva, urine or stool analysed before going out to eat sushi? The sushi is of course made on the basis of these analyses, but we don’t know! lees verder

Concrete proudly presents the opening of its latest hotel project, the Andaz Munich in Schwabing. Like a kaleidoscope, the Andaz hotel reflects the culture and tradition of the neighbourhood, creating a stimulating and inspiring atmosphere where guests and locals can feel at home. Weaving state-of-the-art technology and old traditions into the interior, reflecting what makes Munich unique, forming a sense of tension that can be found throughout the hotel design. The many facets of Bavarian culture run like a leitmotif through the design. This is reflected from the largest scale to the smallest details. Many icons associated with the city of Munich have been reinterpreted or abstracted as small highlights drizzled throughout the hotel, while traditional materials have been given a modern interpretation via a contemporary design language, including a ‘golden pretzel’. lees verder

EARTH Water, the fairest water producer in the Netherlands, is taking a pioneering step in the sustainability of product packaging. By adding the new plant-based cap, the packaging material of the 33cl cardboard packaging is now 100% reusable. According to founder Henk Witteveen, this new bottle is the replacement for all plastic bottles. He says: “Twelve years ago, EARTH was the first producer to use cardboard as packaging material for mineral water. Now we are continuing the same innovative line with this plant-based cap in collaboration with Tetra Pak. We already received a huge number of requests from many catering associations for an alternative to the plastic bottle.” lees verder

Spirited Union Distillery | The first rum distillery in the Netherlands

The grey cobblestone streets and stately canal houses of Amsterdam; they are far from the sandy beaches, palm trees and ferocious pirates we associate with rum. Nevertheless, it was under the Dutch rain where the Spirited Union Distillery and its Union55 rum were created. In 2015, Ruben Maduro found himself fed up with the sickly sweet and artificial flavors in his beloved (spiced) rums. “I travelled all over the world as a brand ambassador, bartender and trainer. And one thing struck me: The lack of innovation in rum.” One and a half year later, in early 2017, an experiment had evolved into an uncategorized rum. A botanically infused one.. lees verder

Dexamenes Seaside Hotel is located on Kourouta beach on the western coast of the Peloponnese in Greece and it will open May 2019. The hotel has been created on the site of an abandoned winery. The derelict, industrial structures that characterize the site have been left relatively untouched since the 1920’s but Nikos Karaflos, a visionary entrepreneur-turned-hotelier changed that! The old tanks have been converted into 34 guestrooms, many of which have a private patio overlooking the sea. The design with a lot of steel, glass, concrete and timber, is led by K-Studio.
