When you sign in on the website you can start looking for a companion to share your hotel room with. Although the focus of the site is on saving money during your trip, Easynest also provides a way for travelers to make friend, or even find a companion, while visiting a city. Looking at their website we imagine that the service will specially be used at big events.

They treat their guests, because of their their 7 year anniversary, on a free wine pairing during their nine-course dinner. For those who do not drink alcohol, they serve a freshly squeezed juices arrangement. They will treat their guests from Wednesday to Friday until August the 2nd 2013.

CampInMyGarden, a website that offers sleeping places in gardens and outdoor houses, a cheap night and often at central locations. Now the platform ‘Boat Bound’ is launched. Whether you are looking for a fishing boat, a sailboat or a barge, Boat Bound offers private boats anywhere in the United States, at any price. We wonder when we can rent a boat in the canals for Amsterdam at Boat Bound.

Cocktail bar B.Y.O.C. in London asks their guests to bring their own alcohol, while it supplies the mixers. The cocktail bar doesn’t have an alcohol license, so they let guests bring their own drinks. The bartenders have a cocktail trolley with ingredients that go well with the alcohol brought and mixes them together to create their cocktail. The cocktail trolley contains ingredients such as syrups, juices, fruit, spices and soft drinks.
The longest tasting meal

Carrie and Simon from unearthed® attempted to set a world record for the ‘World Longest Tasting Menu’. On Thursday 13th June they ate 193 bite-sized courses, one from every country in the world in 24 hours (that’s 8 courses per hour). Carrie and Simon were joined by colleagues, suppliers and journalists. A team of four chefs spent 130 hours prepping and cooking the 193 dishes. All the money raised is being donated to the foundation ‘Action Against Hunger’. To get an impression of what they ate, check out the instagram feed.

Fooddrome will open its doors in Villa Flora (Venlo) around June 2014. Fooddrome will be a location of 7,500 m2 where retail, food service industry, education and recreation will meet. According to the initiator Gert Benders the classic supermarket sells standard products for the lowest price, while the quality of the pure products and the buying experience get lost. Fooddrome is a fresh food concept with authentic, special and sustainable products of mainly Dutch soil for consumers and business users. Healthy and honest food for an affordable price is the key for Fooddrome. The products can be tasted and bought to prepare the dishes at home. The products can also be ordered through the internet or smartphone and will be delivered refrigerated.

Restaurant Moerstede in Bergen op Zoom organizes a High Wine with culinary tapas on June 19. Led by a wine connoisseur, they will make a wine journey through different countries served with matching culinary tapas. A nice initiative that reminded us of the idea of a High Wine or High Bubbles from our booklet ‘Royal Hospitable Gestures‘. Based on the fact that in the Netherlands affordable High Tea is doing very well at restaurants and at various catering locations at garden centers. The success of these High Tea, Wine and Bubbles? You should just be able to walk in and order, so no reservations. It should be affordable and with lots of appetizers. It gives your guests the opportunity to pamper themselves (a bit luxury at an affordable way).

Today the new restaurant Fjord Eat & Drink opens. Inspiration for this restaurant is the purity of the Norwegian fjords. The restaurant has a tough look with a cozy atmosphere. The interior is characterized by different chairs made of different materials. The restaurant serves high quality products with a clear origin for an affordable price. The meat is matured in house and is delivered by regional suppliers. The restaurants also has two spacious rooms for meetings and party and the terrace will open in May.
Suspended fries at friturist

Following the ‘Caffe Sospeso’ and the ‘Suspended Coffee’ we now spotted the ‘Suspended Fries’. Owner Eric Duhamel, of the snackbar Bompa in Brussels, is the initiator. His customers can buy one portion of fries for the price of two! They can leave the voucher they receive for social workers in the neighborhood or give them away to Brussels’ homeless people. The first week the friturists sold sixty portions ‘Suspended fries’ and thirty were claimed. There are several frituristen in Belgium who will follow the initiative (a Friturist is an owner of a snackbar in Belgium).
