Cheese conveyor belt take over | Pick & Cheese invites heavyweights of cheese

Pick & Cheese, the world’s only cheese conveyor belt at Seven Dials Market, will play host to some of the biggest and best names in cheese with ‘Heavyweights of Cheese’, their new series of one-off belt takeovers. Kicking off on Wednesday 27th November with Paxton & Whitfield, the UK’s oldest cheesemonger, the series will see each guest cheesemonger take over the belt for one night only, showcasing their signature cheeses with unique condiments, hot dishes, desserts and a selection of drink pairings.

Heavyweights of Cheese will be a non-ticketed event, available on a first-come first-served basis running from 6pm till 10pm. The belt take over will be by: 27th November: Paxton & Whitfield; 29th January: La Fromagerie; 26th February: Neal’s Yard Dairy and 25th March: Mons Cheesemongers. Great collaboration!

The Rooftop Winter Cinema at the Berkeley Hotel in London

Overlooking the rooftops of Belgravia and Knightsbridge, and with sweeping views of Hyde Park and Winter Wonderland, The Berkeley’s rooftop garden will once again transform into a twinkling festive forest cinema. Guests will snuggle into wooden huts laden with blankets to watch Christmas classics on the big screen whilst warming up with a menu of alpine and winter favourites and flowing Laurent-Perrier champagne for a touch of extra sparkle.  Screenings of festive favourites like ‘Home Alone’ and ‘The Holiday’ at the Rooftop Winter Cinema will take place from 15th November ~ 31st December 2019. Reservations will open today, November 4.

Great idea for other hotels with rooftops in the holiday season! Even cinemas could work together with restaurants to surprise their guests with the combination of watching a great ‘holiday season’ movie while enjoying a great meal.

Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort | Opens early november

The resort has been closed for 3 years and has completely been renovated and refurbished, counting $ 37 million in total. The reopening gives this icon of Curaçao hospitality the position as the most luxurious resort on the island. Guests will be received in a modern, luxurious ambiance with a complete range of 5-star services and facilities. The beautiful Curacao Marriott Beach Resort is located on the beach, a 15-minute drive from Hato, the international airport of Curaçao, and 10 minutes from the historic capital city Willemstad which is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage.

In August 2016 the major renovation of the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort started and now the renovations are all done. In addition to the new interior a new floor has been added and thereby 86 extra rooms. As from now on you can make a booking on their website for stays as of November 15^th.

Amber Garden | True Chinese Cuisine

Amber Garden, part of the international ‘Yisheng Group’, opened its doors in Amstelveen (near Amsterdam in the Netherlands) in a festive way on September 23th. Owner, Stark Li, third generation respected Chinese restaurant owner, together with Facility Manager, Ronald Ting, opened restaurant Amber Garden in the company of many corporate companies from the region, culinary enthusiasts and (Michelin) star chefs.

With the arrival of Amber Garden, the municipality of Amstelveen has added a beautiful, authentic fine dining Chinese restaurant at their list of restaurants. Lovers of the authentic Chinese cuisine can enjoy the ‘shared dining’ dishes here. During the opening we enjoyed dishes from Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Xi’an. With the dishes you can enjoy wine pairing that are specially selected. For those who want to drink alcohol-free, they also serve delicious tea-based mocktails. True lovers of the Chinese cuisine must visit Amber Garden, if only for the delicious Dim Sum and their signature dish the ‘Amber roasted Beijing duck in the traditional way’. Restaurant Arros QD | Paella by Quique Dacosta in London

The three Michelin starred Valencian chef has opened the doors of his first restaurant outside of Spain, with rice at the heart of the offering. Speaking on the opening during one of his many visits to London, Quique has said, “I am excited to bring part of our tradition and gastronomy to one of the most important capitals of the world. Paella is one of the best-known dishes around yet also one of the most mistreated, with this project, I am materializing a passion I have been nurturing for decades: to reinstate the rice culture from the eastern coast of Spain to its rightful home”.

Quique Dacosta opened Arros QD on Fitzrovia’s 64 Eastcastle Street on the 7th June 2019. His first restaurant in London and outside of his native Spain, the collaborative project showcases Quique’s unique style of cooking while highlighting his passion for rice as well as premium, local and seasonal ingredients.
