This Holiday Season you can play curling at the garden of the Langham hotel in London and the Alexandra pub in Wimbledon is hosting ‘don’t be on your own day’ as a lovely gesture to combat loneliness on Christmas Day.

In Hamburg you can enjoy raclette, glühwein and other Swiss winter season food in old ski gondolas at the 25Hours Hotel. And an initiative to tackle the shortage of hospitality staff from Amsterdam: The ‘Leidseplein’ class.

Korean Childhood snacks are an overnight hit because of Squid Game especially among Korean-American restaurant owners! And also in New York: the Antony Bourdain hawker centre is set to open in the beginning of 2022.

Arby’s in the US sells meat with curly and crinkle fries and now they announced the upcoming launch of its limited edition Curly Fry and Crinkle Fry Vodka. And check out the sky at Bercy Village in Paris, we love what they did!

Opening – The newest addition to Amsterdam is Capital Kitchen. A bar restaurant located in Capital C, the monumental building on Weesperplein where the Diamond Exchange was once located. Capital C literally stands for creativity with a capital C. Capital C is a hub and community for the capital’s creative sector. A work and meeting place for creatives with flexible workplaces, office and meeting rooms and special event spaces. And now also with a unique and innovative bar-restaurant concept. The design of Capital Kitchen has been created together with the top of the Dutch creative industry.

This week, Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk opened a temporary champagne bar: Petit Latour by Ruinart. Located on the first floor of the iconic hotel, this stylish champagne bar is open til the end of February next year. At Petit Latour it is possible to order various special champagnes with matching French dishes, such as crostinis with salmon and Gillardeau oyster with champagne-mignonette. The bites are created by chef Marcel van Lier of big brother restaurant Latour, the restaurant of Huis ter Duin, which has been awarded a Michelin star. Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin is located at the coast of the Nord Sea, half a hour drive from Amsterdam.

Opening – Chef-owner Jozua Jaring and maître Bas Averdijk of Michelin star restaurant Ratatouille Food & Wine in Haarlem will open their Brasserie Bruis in Haarlem on November 3, 2021. The brasserie is located at Lange Veerstraat 15, where the Petossi restaurant used to be. Bruis is an informal brasserie where guests can enjoy high-quality international brasserie dishes, a snack and a good glass of wine.

The Dutch cider producers and importers of CiderCider will open ‘the Ciderbar’ in Rotterdam Hofbogen by the end of December. And in Groningen the first RavioliBar in the Netherlands opened. They make fresh ravioli daily!

The Cheesecake Factory has been sharing a slew of their incredible recipes for readers to make in their own kitchens since the COVID-19 crisis. Inspirational! And the Dutch Vegan Junk Food Bar will open in Germany this fall.

With this week amongst others, links to articles about the expansion of Paris based restaurant Cala, they use robotica to create fresh pasta dishes. And supermarket Jumbo in the Netherlands designates 200 cash registers for ‘checkout chats’ or as they call them ‘kletskassa’s’.

In their stories Starbucks re-announced their global ‘Starbucks Greener Stores’ commitment and McDonald’s announced that they will accelerate climate actions to reach net zero emissions by 2050. Promising is the affiliation with organizations as the United Nations (McDonald’s) and the SCS Global Services and World Wildlife Fund by Starbucks.

Accor & Ennismore announced a joint venture in which both chains contribute their added value. The joint venture will make Ennismore the largest and fastest growing lifestyle hospitality company.

A great initiative by 3 French companies: the Citroën Skate. Citroën created 3 new service pods with Accor and JCDecaux: Sofitel En Voyage, Pullman Power Fitness and JCDecaux City Provider.

Grey Poupon, the mustard brand created a limited edition La Moutarde Vin. A viognier wine infused with mustard seeds, would you like to try it?

 Starbucks opened their 10th ‘farmer support’ centre in VarginhaBrasil with the purpose to offer valuable resources to local coffee communities. 

 UPSIDE Foods partners with three Michelin star chef Dominique Crenn. Crenn will develop recipes and give culinary advise and if allowed she will use the lab-grown chicken in her restaurant. This is the first collaboration in the cultivated meat industry with a three star Michelin chef. 

 De Koningshoeven brewery is the first in the world to market a completely alcohol-free Trappist beer: La Trappe Nillis (0.0%). And McDonald’s published their Purpose and Impact Report of 2020-2021 with four impact points: Jobs, Inclusion and Empowerment, the Plant, Food Quality & Sourcing and Community Connection. 

 Duke’s Mayonaise started collaborating with Champion Brewing Company to produce the perfect beer that fits with a BLT sandwich: Family Recipe (5,1% ABV, 27 IBU). Kind of ‘Mayo Beer’. The new ‘food shopping’-app, Grownby, connects farmers with buyers. Wouldn’t it be great to have  such an app as a cook? And getting messages like the strawberries are now ‘ready to eat’!

 CandyCan gummy bears are gluten-free, plant-based, low-sugar, low carb and contain vitamins. Is it an idea to lay a bag of Gummy bears on top of a pillow for children visiting your hotel? Or to put a bag in a ‘Happy-Meal’ kind of box?

 Oreo opened their first café in New Jersey. The café consists of a shop offering Oreo cookies and other Oreo treats, and fast-service where you can order Oreo treats. And in New York another sweet hybride is gaining popularity: the Croffle. This is a soft, buttery and layered croissant toasted in a waffle iron and sprinkled with different toppings.

Where Barn47 used to be – known as a popular event location – you will now find a restaurant where you can go all day for every restaurant moment. Whether it’s a play date with your girlfriend and your kids, or a drink after work with colleagues.

Already the tenth location of this popular and fast-growing restaurant chain since 2009. Hudson The Hague South is also their largest location! The urban vibe of New York has spread through the Netherlands, they started in the Statenkwartier in The Hague, and have restaurant in Zoetermeer, Leiden, Almere, Voorschoten and Rotterdam! Popular amongst locals and expats.

Happy hour at the SPA at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas is a bit different then you might expect, inspiration for wellness centers. And opening later this year in Barcelona, the three-story restaurant Jacqueline, concept inspired by the muse of Picasso. We’re curious!

Eco-luxury oasis 1 Hotel Toronto will open in downtown Toronto on August 4. The mission-driven, sustainable, luxury hospitality brand is now accepting reservations. And an article about foraged cocktails, rewilded bars turning to nature for their cocktail inspiration. With inspiration from Visit Sweden.

With this week articles about amongst others blue raspberries, their origin and how they are used in products today. Have you hear about them? And about the opening of a new luxury hotel, the Cheval Blanc Paris, with rooms with panoramic views of the Seine.

Chance the Rapper collaborates with Starbucks to promote Starbucks’s ‘Ready to Drink’ canned and bottled coffees with the help of a TikTok campaign, with prizes including a one-on-one video moment with Chance. And an idea to save energy by storing your vegetables in ‘The Groundfridge’. Great idea for chefs who have their own vegetable garden.

We couldn’t find more information yet, but we spotted on the Instagram page of The Avocado Show that they are opening a location in London this summer! We wish their team a lot of success with the opening.

Inspiration for municipalities from Tokyo, the Nippon Foundation launched a new toilet facility as part of ‘THE TOKYO TOILET’ which makes toilets much more accessible to the public. Very handy especially if all restaurants and bars are closed, like during the pandemic!

Future Meat Technologies that has opened the world’s first industrial cultured meat facility. We wonder which food safety authority will be the first to allow human consumption!
