First vegetarian snack bar

At The Hague Hollands Spoor train station, the first fully vegetarian snack bar will open on 5 April. Visitors can choose a healthier and meatless version of the croquette, frikadel or hamburger. The products are 100% vegetarian and a majority of the product range is also vegan. Besides the snacks, there is a choice of vegetarian and vegan sandwiches, small dishes and organic drinks.

McDonald’s in Australia, better known as Macca’s, introduced a new iPhone app. With the app ‘TrackMyMacca’s’ the guest can see where the ingredients originate from and what happens before they are served. Another example of transparency at McDonald’s. In Canada they’ve created a YouTube movie about the difference between the hamburger in an ad and in your own box. There is also a ‘behind the scenes‘ about the French fries.

The Dutch most famous Burger

McDonald’s started a co-creation campaign in the Netherlands. Consumers can create their own burger on the website. Website visitors can vote for this burger, and the burger with the most votes will become the Dutch most famous Burger. This hamburger will be sold in all Dutch locations under the name of the winner. On September the 17th the winner will be announced, the winning burger is available from 18 September.

To create a social media fanclub, Café Causette of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel (Hong Kong) launches the mini-hamburger-campaign. Guests can vote for their favorite burger, and the winning burger deserves to be on the menu. Before guests can vote, they do have to become a member of their Facebook-page.

This is a concept of the Dutch patissier and Master chef Rudolf van Veen and Fontys Academy for Creative Industries, and is awarded as best Studentcompany of the Netherlands. In July the Bus Stop Bakery will represent the Netherlands during the European final in Madrid.
