IXL Netherlands BV introduces a new way of cooking with the Nutri-Pulse® e-cooker. This e-cooker uses electric pulses to cook meat, fish, vegetables and fruit within minutes, or even seconds. By using this new way of cooking, all the nutritive value of food, as well as the taste, colour and flavour are preserved. At the same time it creates a reduction in energy and food waste. Blippar shows the consumer extra product information of a certain product by using augmented reality. By filming the product with a smartphone, product information and recipes appear in the screen of your phone. Blippar has a partnership with several supermarket chains in the UK, such as Tesco and Cadbury’s, in order to make sure that most products will be recognized by Blippar.
Hotel-restaurant Villa Ruimzicht, located in Doetichem (in the Netherlands), provides a service where guests order room service by using their Smartphone or tablet pc. Guests can download a free app and scan a QR-code which can be found in the hotel room. A menu appears on the screen in which the guest can order a certain dish or a drink. To offer this service, the hotel uses the ‘Yoursmartbutler’ app, which makes a connection to the register system and communicates the necessary information to the kitchen and to the guest accounts.
Drink your Starbucks coffee responsibly with this reusable coffee mug, designed by Jang Jin-hee and Lee Min-jeong. Every time you refill your mug, a green leaf will light up through an integrated LED system, which measures the times you refill your cup. After 365 refills, the leaves form a map of the world to show you how eco-friendly you are by discarding cardboard cups.
The Lapin Kulta Solar Kitchen is a temporary restaurant that uses solar energy to cook. Last yea,r the initiative traveled to Helsinki, Stockholm and Milano. The use solar heat creates an unique texture and tast. The cooks claim that it creates a whole new taste experience.
On 70% of the fresh vegetables in the supermarkets you can find invisible pesticide residue. These residue are dangerous for our health. Washing the vegetables under the tap is not effectively enough to get rid of the pesticides. Philips has development a device that cleans all the vegetables effectively. Housebites, a company based in Londen is making it possible to get meals from restaurant quality home delivered. On the website of Housebites people will enter there zip code and Housebites will show the chefs which are working in the neighborhood. The chefs which are a member of Housebites are either working in restaurants or in education. Before becomming a member of Housebites the skills of the chefs are screened. Gobble in San Francisco is a simular system and Chef Frank Hannon started his Friday Nigth Take Out from his home in Londen.
