Last Sunday restaurant Fifteen restaurant in Amsterdam organized a ‘Less common shares dinner’. It was a seven-course menu with ‘less common parts’ of food. These ingredients are often discarded because they are ‘scary’. Many chefs are scared to work woth ingredients like: kidneys, bone marrow or blood. By wokring with less common parts the initiators want to make sure kitchens will work more sustainably.

Pancake Princess in Paris

Two weeks ago a pancake house for real princesses opened in the Marais district in Paris. The Princess Crèpe restaurant is designed so that you feel like you’re in a princess fairytale. At Princess Crèpe restaurant serves pancakes, but also other sweets like ice cream and pastries.

The idea was to use advertising techniques that are used to promote junk food and apply that to small healthy carrots. We don’t tell that carrots are healthy because people already know that, according to the creators.

By scanning the barcode the application also shows a healthier alternative to the product. Currently there are more than 160,000 products that can be scanned by Fooducate, this number increases every day.

Lettuce machine

Several major restaurant chains in Japan have their own salad machine. The machine provides 60 heads of lettuce per day and ensures that restaurants are provided with the right quality of lettuce. The machine, called “Chef’s Farm” grows lettuce without sunlight. The machine uses 12 fluorescent lamps of 40 watts.
