In the end of November Steffy Roos du Maine opend a new initiative, Books & Bubbles in Amsterdam. This new crossover consists of: a bookstore and a place for small gatherings and events with bubbles. There will also be flex work places available and there are plans for winetastings and bookevenings. Books & Bubbles also offers original gifts and homely decorations.
Barkode techno club Amsterdam

Saturday the new club Barkode at the Wagenstraat in Amsterdam opens its doors. The concrete, robust decoration, give the visitor the feeling that everything is allowed. No strict door policy, glamour or glitters. Everybody is welcome, even wearing regular jeans and sneakers. Co-owner Kim Loman says: “Its about time that the Berlin influences also appear in Amsterdam.”

The winter is on its way, so it is almost time for the ice hotels. But which ice hotels are a ‘must-see’? The ice hotel in Québec in Canada, called Hotel de Glace, is the most famous hotel, which opens each winter since 2001. Coming winter this hotel opens its door on January 5 till March 24. In the Swedish village Jukkasjärvi, the ice hotel opens already on December 7. It features also a bar and several ice sculptures created by several artists.

Ouderkerk aan de Amstel (close to Amsterdam, the Netherlands) is offering a new hotspot. Chef Jaimie van Heije opened Restaurant Jaimie van Heije. The served dishes are all about the products with great respect for these products, without to much fuss, served in a brasserie-atmosphere. The menu features dishes such as smoked eel and roasted USA bavette. This restaurant is a feast for your eyes as well; on the wall you can find the artwork of artist Selwyn Senatori. Restaurant Jaimie van Heije is opened 6 days per week. On Sunday the restaurant is closed to gain new inspiration.

In 2014 this new hotel will be build and opened in the mountains of Wadi Rum in Jordan. The rooms will be carved out of the rocks, which should give a magnificent view. Watch more pictures of this hotel plan.

The Dutch manufacturer Movuz is specialized in stainless steel mobile kitchen systems for both professional and private use. They introduced an innovative new concept, called the ’95-Range’, which entails several different mobile units such as a Beermobil, a Cookmobil (which includes a teppan yaki system) and a Coolmobil.

Centipede Cinema is a compact freestanding theater, designed for screenings in locations with limited space, developed by Barlett School of Architecture in Guimarães (Portugal, European City for Culture 2012). Besides the limited needed space, also limited resources are needed.
Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht Hotel

The first Hyatt hotel in the Netherlands opened its doors. The five star Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht Hotel features 117 rooms and 5 suites and is located in a former public library. The looks and design are created and developed by the Dutch interior designer Marcel Wanders, guided by Dutch history and local culture. The hotel features the Bluespoon Restaurant with a farm-to-table concept where only the best local ingredients are served. Also the hotel features the Bluespoon Bar, a meeting room, fitness and an Urban Spa.

Restaurant El Montero is located in the city of Saltillo in the Mexican state of Coahuila. The surrounding area consists of desert, which is reflected in the visual and culinary style of the restaurant. The branding and interior, with the eye-catching custom-created chandelier, are designed by creative agency Anagrama.
