‘Krijg de kleren!’ (litterally ‘get the clothes’ but in figure of speech ‘F*ck off’) is an monthly initiative from Annemijn Boon and Rosan Brunger in a club in Amsterdam. Visitors –mostly women- bring old clothes with these and trade them with others while having a drink. The clothes that don’t have a new owner at the end of the evening will go to the next edition or are donated to Humana. Every edition has a theme, this Sunday it’s ‘Let’s Go Sjiek’.

Collaboration between bars and Brand beer

In various cities in the Netherlands the cafes that tap Brand beer have joined hands to form the “Brandslang” (Fire Hose). The collaboration gives lots of opportunities for pub crawls and other activities. Venlo and Den Bosch go a bit further and organize a total package with culinary, cultural and quiz elements with the ‘Brandslang’.

Dining in the cinema

Michelin-starred chef Rowley Leigh is offering cinema visitors gourmet food while they watch the film. Instead of popcorn or nacho chips you can order burgers or risotto at the Odeon Whiteleys cinema in West-London. If you order when you arrive, your meal will be served when the trailers are on and you can have your dinner while watching the movie.

Table talks by Sergio Herman and Sofie Lachaert

The Dutch 3-star chef Sergio Herman has worked together with the Flemish designer Sofie Lachaert to bring something extra to the dishes in restaurant Oud Sluis. In this collaboration, special objects arise with solely one goal; to merge the dish and the object it is laying on. These artworks are put together for a special exhibition in Tielrode (Belgium) until the 8th of January 2012.

These workshops take place in different Parisian restaurants during closing hours. A nice concept; food lovers get the chance to cook in a professional restaurant kitchen and restaurant owners will have the change to create a higher turnover by renting their restaurant.

New trendy concepts at Schiphol

Dutch desinger Tjep developed three new shops in the newly refurbished Departure Lounge of Schiphol airport in Amsterdam: House of Tulips, Say Cheese and Bread!. These three concepts, a flower shop, a cheese take-away shop and a bread restaurant, sell these typical Dutch products to promote the Ducth culture. Early September the official opening of these concepts took place. Watch the project here.

Make your own cheese

Several ‘grow your own’ initiatives are seen lately. ‘Make Cheese’ developed several packages to make your own cheese. These kits contains all ingredients, equipment and recipes. The package provides an estimated 8 cheeses. At the moment there is a mozzarella and a Canadian cheese kit, other cheeses will follow soon.

Fairmont teams up with Le Labo

The luxery hotel chain Fairmont, which operates 60 hotels around the world, announced a partnership with the New York parfumer Le Labo, concerning the in-room amenities. Le Labo’s Rose 31 will form the base of these packages. The “warm, spicy floral and woodsy” products in these packages will include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion and soap products.
