Pancake bus

We spotted the French fastservice, Roulegalette, (French crêpes) and wondered when the first Dutch “pancake to go” would start. Via Twitter the “pannenkoekenbus” (pancake bus) reacted within a few minutes. Young entrepreneurs Robin and Gerard, who got the idea while waiting for the bus to school, combined their part time job in a pancake restaurant with a bus.

Chocolates with camelmilk

Kamelka, chocolates made of camelmilk. On May 8th they launched the product in Den Bosch, the Dutch ‘Capital of Taste, 2010’. The product is a collaboration from Syntens Design, Pressure Cooker Food & Agri Working Group.

In Belgium they serve hoppas instead of tapas

Tapas made from Flemisch local products served with original Belgian beer, the so called ‘hoppas’. With the introduction of this typical Flemisch product the inventors, catering consultancy Dolce Far Tutto, wholesaler ISPC and brewery Duvel Moortgat lead the way for the Taste Week in November.

Earth hour

All over the world hotels and restaurants participate in Earth Hour, an initiative by WWF (World Wildlife Fund). For one hour the lights where switched off! Candles on the table, no illuminated logos, “unplugged” candlelight concerts, one hour walk with torches and so on.

The Spanish restaurant chain Fresc Co. offers guests the opportunity to practice their English while they’re dining out. Fresc Co. owns 40 restaurants in 11 Spanish cities, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and Mediterranean dishes. The teachers focus on everyday language and work situations in sessions that last two hours. In this way, the restaurant chain gives something back to their guests in these difficult economic times.

The first give-it-forward website by Ben & Jerry’s. An initiative by which you give away something of yourself and get something back from somebody else. Ben & Jerry’s takes the lead and gives away 100 ice creams. Whoever makes the bid, will in return offer something the others can bid on.
