The government of New York is looking for restaurant and café owners who are willing to open pop-up terraces on the sidewalk, during the summers of 2011 and 2012. Those who are interested can subscribe online. If the owners are chosen to open a pop-up terrace, they have to design and maintain the terrace.

A new Japanese restaurant in the Indonesian capital Jakarta is almost entirely constructed outof bamboo sticks. The restaurant has an open character and visitors only protects against the sun and rain. The restaurant is made of bamboo because the owner is not sure of the success of the restaurant. If the restaurant turns out to be not as succesfull as needed the restaurant owner is able to let it dissappear easily.
The Swiss Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts opens its first five star hotel in Ramallah on the Westbank. With the construction of this hotel, Mövenpick indicates that the former Palestinian conflict area is ready for tourism and business. The hotel is realized for the estimated amount of $ 40,000,000 with a total of 171 rooms, a swimming pool, fitness center, seven conference rooms and a luxurious restaurant and bar.
Urban Green is an initiative of the Dutch interior designer Mark van der Geest and focuses on urban residents. Urban Green offers a wide range of flowers, plants and accessories for balconies. Urban Green is also developing projects as green roofs and vertical gardens to appertment buildings. Currently there are only stores in Amsterdam but Urban Green hopes to open in 15 stores in Dutch cities.
In Cancun, Mexico they are working on an underwatermuseum in the Caribbean Sea. The museum will be bult in the National Marine Park and consists of over 400 images at a depth of 3 to 6 meters. The initiator behind this underwater museum is Jason deCaires Taylor. The artist wants to show how the original Mexican people “the Mayas’, have developed over the years.
By responding to the changing business market, Disneyland created a new logo and a new strategy. In this new logo, Mickey is wearing a tie. The new tagline is: “Experience business differently”.
In Sydney they also have a cave restaurant (The Cave restaurant), but artificial. The design is reminiscent of a cave and is designed by Koichi Takada.
At Alux Restaurant in Playa del Carmen (Mexico) you can dine and lounge in natural caves. Several areas can be found in the cave, from private dining areas to bars that can be rented separately.
