The fifth edition of The Best Chef Awards will take place in Amsterdam on 13, 14 and 15 September. Its a gastronomic ceremony where the top 100 chefs worldwide are announced. During these three days, various culinary events will take place in and around the capital between (inter)national top chefs and well-known restaurants.

Including the following events: Food Meets Science, Food and Space, AREA Talks and of course The Awards Gala on September 15th. And on September 15, the Four Hands Lunch Jansz. x Manu Buffara will take place in restaurant Jansz of the Pulitzer Hotel.

SJW Robotics, a Toronto based FoodTech company, will be launching a fully autonomous robotic restaurant with zero on-site employees. The company will be demonstrating the pre-commercial unit in the fall of 2021, with a commercial rollout scheduled for Q1, 2022. At the heart of SJW Robotics shines RoWok™, a proprietary automated kitchen system that cooks made-to-order meals like an accomplished chef. Armed with high-speed mechanism, RoWok captures the essence of wok-based cooking and uses state-of-the-art sensors and automation protocols to deliver consistent quality in accordance with the highest food safety standards. The design inspiration for the unit comes from industrial food manufacturing systems and an engineering team with proven accomplishments in robotics.

SJW Robotics’ next-generation restaurant will come in the form of a 100 square-foot standalone unit. The techforward kitchen’s small footprint, plug-and-play capabilities and 24-hour accessibility will enable its implementation in a multitude of locations such as airports, hospitals, universities, grocery stores, office towers, shopping malls, stadiums and industrial complexes.

The new menu item at Little Caesars combines Calzone and Pizza for a delicious fusion of two classic pizzeria favourites. Crazy Calzony features a pepperoni pizza with a Parmesan and buttery-tasting calzone-like crust filled with garlic white sauce, cheese and julienne pepperoni, served with Crazy Sauce® for dipping. The product is available to order online for delivery or pickup starting August 16th, and available as HOT-N-READY® item starting August 23rd. Crazy Calzony is only available for a limited time.

Inspiration for pizzeria’s worldwide? It does look delicious, don’t you think? We spotted the stuffed crust by Pizza Hut back in January, a kind of calzone crust. They even sold a limited-edition ‘Nothing But Stuffed Crust’.

Dutch hospitality, quality and accessibility from the region Achterhoek for a large audience. That is what the Horeca Inspiratie Maatschappij (HIM+) stands for, the parent organization of various food and hotel concepts in the region Achterhoek. The group gives national monuments from the region a new, connecting function as a meeting place where contemporary enjoyment is the key issue. The group recently expanded with the acquisition of Hotel de Wereld (Hotel The World) and the opening of the brand new boutique hotel Villa Wanrooy. In addition, HIM+ is fully committed to sustainable and circular catering concepts, of which the Green Michelin star obtained in March 2021 at restaurant Lokaal in Villa Ruimzicht is a direct result.

Opening – A wonderful evening out in a contemporary Japanese restaurant where you can choose from classics and new creations from a well-known chef. As from October residents of Zeist in the Netherlands can visit the new urban sushi restaurant Sushi San. The place is uniquely decorated with a combination of modern design and traditional Japanese elements such as large wooden columns, rice paper lamps and drawings of koi carp. Both small and large groups will soon enjoy an exclusive all you can dine concept here.

This Japanese hotspot in Zeist will also work with robots that will support their staff. The fact that the robots are really not going to replace the employees is apparent from the advertisement on their website in which they are looking for employees. We are curious about the robots!

Opening – Today, Rotterdam’s first English gastropub opens in the middle of the bustling Witte de Withstraat. However, the daring figures on the wall and ceiling remind you of the fact that you are in raw Rotterdam.

And from 2024 the French startup Midnight Trains will start offering ‘hotel rooms on rails’ to travel by night from Paris to different European cities. Comfortable and a more sustainable way of travelling within Europe.

Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) announced this week it will be serving gold foil-wrapped burritos for a limited time at participating locations in-restaurant and through digital orders starting today, July 23. The limited-edition gold foil will celebrate American athletes competing in Tokyo and rally fans to cheer on first place finishes over the next three weeks. This is the first time Chipotle has introduced gold foil nationwide since it celebrated its 18th anniversary and debuted gold foil-wrapped burritos in 2011.
