Washington Michelin

Washington will be only the fourth American city to be the subject of a current Michelin Guide, after New York, San Francisco and Chicago. Michelin inspectors, who are trained in France, have been surreptitiously dining in Washington restaurants since last fall. Exciting times for the Washington chefs until the stars will be awarded in October.

A good example of ‘blurring’ in Toulouse, France. J’Go restaurant build an elegant retail space attached to the meat-focused restaurant in the French town. The result is a luxurious space designed to emphasize the products available for home cooking, which includes premium cuts of various types of meat.

There are many reasons why people are not able to eat dairy products like cheese. Claudia, from Uban Cheesecraft created a DIY kit for dairy-free cheese. This kit gives the opportunity to make dairy-free alternatives, so you still can enjoy cheese with your own chosen ingredients.

A lot of people are cycling to the beach or to a nearby festival during the summer. After enjoying a long day of relaxing or partying, cycling back home is not always the best option. UberBIKE offers the solution for these moments: an affordable ride home, without leaving your bike.

An overnight stay in the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most visited tourist attractions and is considered to be the monument of romance. Now it is possible to stay in the Eiffel Tower during the UEFA EURO 2016! HomeAway started a contest on their website where they invite the participants to tell what they would do if the Eiffel Tower would be theirs for one night in 140 characters.

Vega pop-up about to sprout in Amsterdam

Friedjof Kempenaar initiated a vega pop-up restaurant in Rotterdam on 11, 12 and 13 April and is now aiming for our capital. Although he is not a vegetarian, he is intrigued by cooking without fish and meat and is convinced that the available vegan dishes in restaurants deserve an uprgade. While he is looking for a location in Amsterdam to sit 70 people per evening, you can delight yourself with an impression of the latest edition here.

Ricotta cheese made of almonds

TOP Food Lab regularly organizes jam sessions in the kitchen to experiment with products. Responding to the trends vegan, raw food and sustainability, a jam session resulted in a ricotta cheese made of almonds. The ricotta cheese of almonds has the same texture as dairy-based ricotta, the flavor is different (more nutty, less cheesy) and includes an acid that is also used in the production of cheese, that results in a cheese-like experience. The ricotta cheese contains no milk and is suitable for people with a lactose and cow’s milk allergy. TOP Food Lab wants to experiment more with curing, brining, using different kinds of molds and bacteria to make a ultimate mold cheese of almonds. The goal is to sell these cheeses in shops and restaurants.

New York Vegetarian Food Festival

On March 3th and 4th the New York Vegetarian Food Festival will take place at The Pavilion Metrpolitan. This event is about healthy living, sustainability, vegetarianism and nutrition. Besides de present of vegetarians, vegans and people who (try) to eat healthy, a chain of restaurants and suppliers of vegetarian products are present. There will be also some musical performances.
