The iCookbook iPad app is specially made for chefs at home. Normally you must use your food-covered fingers to scroll through the recipes, but this app is voice controlled. You will use voice commands to follow the recipes’ steps without touching the screen.

 

Google helps its employees to lose weight

In the canteens of Google, the large plates are replaced by small plates. They will fill their plates less and therefore the employees will eat less. According to Google, this can lead to a 5 to 8 kilo loss in one year time.  

Bols launches liqueur foam

Lucas Bols launches the Bols Foam, which is according to the manufacturer’s, the first and only liqueur foam in the world, and is available from April. The purpose of the foam is to finish cocktails or mixed drinks, shots, wine, soft drinks, beer, coffee and desserts.

Pop-up designrestaurant The Cube

The Cube, the pop-up restaurant of Electrolux offers a combination of design, star cuisine and special locations. The pop-up restaurant will serve its first meal in Brussels from March 25 to July 3 on top of the Arc de Triomph in Jubelpark. The restaurant, provided by the Belgian chefs Bart de Pooter or Sang-Hoon Degeimbre, has one large dining table that can accommodate only 18 guests. After Brussels  the restaurant will  go to Italy, Russia, Switzerland and Sweden.

The WalkIN app is a wonderful feature to have on a smartphone when there is a long queue at the restaurant. This app lets people reserve a table by simply scanning the QR code at the doors. You don’t have to wait in line and you will be notified when a table is ready.

 

Pepsi unveils 100% plant-based bottle

PepsiCo – the company behind Pepsi and Tropicana – has unveiled what it claims is the world’s first 100 % plant-based bottle. The pilot production of the new bottle is set to start in 2012, and upon successful completion Pepsi intends to move directly into full-scale production.
