Texel gets a new typical product, a Texel whiskey. The whiskey is not for sale yet, but the creator and producer Joscha Schoots has laid a good foundation. The whiskey is distilled with, so far as possible, ingredients of Texel. The distillates are still maturing on barrel. The salty air and the soft water of Texel, play a role in the typical taste of the whiskey. Joscha Schoots hopes to present the first whiskey bottles in 3.5 years.

Chocolate beer in Japan

The Japanese brewery Sankt Gallen Brewery has brewed a stout beer that is chocolate-flavored by using chocolate malt. The beer has 8,5 percent of alcohol and can be served in a glass made entirely of chocolate. After drinking the chocolate-flavored stout beer, you can also eat the glass to enhance the chocolate flavor of the beer.

Ice cubes detect drinking speed

After a alcohol black-out Dhairya Dand from the MIT Media Lab has developed ice cubes that react to the music and drinking speed. The LED ice cubes changes color from green, orange to red if the drinking speed is to high. The chip inside the cubes is even able to send text messages to friends if the drinking continues.

Barkode techno club Amsterdam

Saturday the new club Barkode at the Wagenstraat in Amsterdam opens its doors. The concrete, robust decoration, give the visitor the feeling that everything is allowed. No strict door policy, glamour or glitters. Everybody is welcome, even wearing regular jeans and sneakers. Co-owner Kim Loman says: “Its about time that the Berlin influences also appear in Amsterdam.”
