The Canadian company SYSTEMATEKS creates adjustable and personalized systems. For the Interior Design Show in Toronto they designed a modular Eco-Bar. The Eco-Bar consists of a grid with removable panels that can be adapted in racks, cabinets or (transparent) panels. The bar is also equipped with solar panels that provide power and it collects rainwater to watering the plants.
Sem Schuurkes and Pieter Tilburg devised ‘City Hub’, a budget hotel concept. The “city hubs” are stand alone objects that can be easily placed in buildings. And through crowfunding, they want to collect enough money for this concept. A beta version is launched in Amsterdam this April. Watch the movie for an impression!
Starbucks opened their first ‘ski-thru’ in Squaw Valley California. Coffee lovers can now enjoy a cup of coffee on top of the slope at a height of 2400 meters. They also opened a seating area for the less fanatical skiers. Watch the video!
The legendary Duff beer from the television serie The Simpsons become a reality for consumers in the United Kingdom. Brewed by Eschweger Klusterbrauereu, Duff beer is a premium German pilsener with a crisp and a light refreshing taste. The beer is online for sale in cans or bottles with the iconic red, white and black design.
Rock artist Tim Burgess (from the band The Charlatans) posted on twitter that he would like to design his own cereal brand and name it ‘Totes Amazeballs’. Kellogg’s (UK) saw his tweet and made it come true. Totes Amazeballs has the taste of Rocky Road and ice cream with a crunchy mix of chocolate, marshmallows, shortbread and raisins. The cereal was intended just for Burgess, but because of so many positive reactions on Twitter they think about bringing the cereal on the market.

Day Use Hotels is an online guide that gives an overview of hotels which rent rooms for a few hours. The prices are 30% to 70% cheaper compared to the standard one night reservations. Currently the list count 200 hotels in Europe. There is also an app available of the ‘Day Use Hotels’.

On the Spanish island of Lanzarote a restaurant found a sustainable way of grilling. The restaurant uses the heat of the sleeping volcano El Diablo, which gives a heat of 400 degrees celsius. Watch the website of Odditycentral for the video.
Vitens designed a free app that indicates whether the water where you stay is drinkable or not. When the iOS app indicates that the water is not drinkable, you will get tips where to find clean water. The app works all around the world.
