Schiphol Amsterdam Airport in The Netherlands is the first airport in Europe that has two ordering colums at the McDonald’s Restaurant in Lounge 3 (behind the passport check). Guests can use a touchscreen for their orders and pay by debit or credit card.

Restaurant Klein Paardenburg in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel caused a stir by sending a mailing with the picture above included. Many regular guests contacted the restaurant immediately to ask if the restaurant was for sale. It was a promotional stunt, in cooperation with a real estate broker offering 3 -, 4 – and 5 – course menus. The restaurant itself was ofcourse not for sale.The stunt was created by Lennert Rietveld, Van Spronsen & Partners horeca-advies.

After a successful trial in Rotterdam, Domino’s pizza only wants to use electric scooters for pizza delivery within two years. The scooters are less polluting and more quite. The only problem now is that the battery runs-out rather quickly.

The biological burgen chain, based in Northern Virginia, has developed rapidly since 2005. They now have 17 branches. The first branch outside of America will open in Kuwait.

Burger King changed its marketing strategy, and now focuses more on women. During investigation of “Super Fans” (frequent visitors to fast-food restaurants 9 to 10 times per month) the company discovered that 29% of the visitors is older than 50 years. The assumption that most guests are males between 18 and 34 years old turned out not to be true. Burger King now started a campaign aimed at the female “superfan”. In the US only.
