This year Grapedistrict is celebrating 15 years! And this Dutch wine store with 13 physical stores and a webshop is celebrating it big. Founders Freek Padberg and Gijs Groenevelt are organizing a spectacular 3-day birthday party in honor of this milestone: Wine Festival Vinhalla. On November 4, 5 and 6, 2021 from 5 p.m. to midnight, the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam North will be the setting for the most beautiful wine festival in the Netherlands. Together with well-known Amsterdam top restaurants & chefs under the leadership of The Food Line-up, it will be ensured that festival-goers can also eat qualitatively. In short: a paradise for all wine lovers and Burgundians in the Netherlands.

Through its innovative design, the Heineken® Greener Bar will help to reduce waste, water, emissions, and energy usage, ultimately creating a more sustainable bar solution for the events industry.

And from 2024 the French startup Midnight Trains will start offering ‘hotel rooms on rails’ to travel by night from Paris to different European cities. Comfortable and a more sustainable way of travelling within Europe.

During a health crisis it is of key importance to use the healing properties of food. That is why Ekomenu is launching a ‘Recovery meal box’ on the 22nd of July: a healthy, high protein and 100% biological meal box which gives the immune system a boost. The recipes are created by culinary chef Frank Fol, otherwise known as ‘de Groentekok®’, one of the driving forces behind Ekomenu. An international scientific study showcased that during the Covid-19 crisis people focused even more on healthy eating and bought a lot more fruits and vegetables.

Interesting development in the area of meal boxes! Can a restaurant also follow this concept of healthy meal boxes to restore the body? It could definitely be an option if you are still delivering boxes.

Eco-luxury oasis 1 Hotel Toronto will open in downtown Toronto on August 4. The mission-driven, sustainable, luxury hospitality brand is now accepting reservations. The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts (with Hotel The Toren in Amsterdam amongst their portfolio) enhances its guest experiences by becoming the first global boutique hotel group to accept Cryptocurrency from any country for hotel bookings.

We didn’t know the brand Frutta Bowl, but it’s a fast growing superfoods café brand. They have 30+ restaurants in East U.S. and are going to debut in California. Part of the company WOWorks’ trajectory of non-traditional restaurant growth.

Sustainability is hip and much needed, we like it when luxury companies like LVMH are investing in it! Recently the luxury conglomerate announced plans to build a new center in Saclay, France dedicated to researching sustainable production.

And an idea to save energy by storing your vegetables in ‘The Groundfridge’. Great idea for chefs who have their own vegetable garden.

We couldn’t find more information yet, but we spotted on the Instagram page of The Avocado Show that they are opening a location in London this summer! We wish their team a lot of success with the opening.

Inspiration for municipalities from Tokyo, the Nippon Foundation launched a new toilet facility as part of ‘THE TOKYO TOILET’ which makes toilets much more accessible to the public. Very handy especially if all restaurants and bars are closed, like during the pandemic!

Future Meat Technologies that has opened the world’s first industrial cultured meat facility. We wonder which food safety authority will be the first to allow human consumption!

And some more sustainable projects; a collaboration between Mizuiro Inc and designeer Naoko Kimura led to the creation of crayons made from fruits and vegetables, safe for children to use.

A lot is happening in London this summer, with a magical afternoon tea being served at Aqua Sharp consisting of Peter Pan inspired treats and décor! And the Taste of London Festival that will be held from July 7 – 11 and July 14 – 18 in Regent’s Park.
