Catered picnics in Amsterdam

 Butler For Hire’s service in the Netherlands offers a new service, the picnic butler, from April to August in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. When booked, a butler is sent to the park to set up the picnic, included with crystal glasses, picnic rugs, china crockery and pillows. Once the picnickers are ready to go home, a phone call to Butler For Hire signals it is time for the butler to return and clean up.  

 

Colored rice

In preparation for the annual Tomb Sweeping Day in China, shopkeepers in the Guangxi region are working on the freshly cooked five-color glutinous rice to worship their ancestors. The colored rice was dyed in the liquid from soaked colorful plants such as purple sweet cane and maple leaves. Coloured rice is a much better option to enliven your plate than the usual plain old white rice.

The Norwegian company Figgjo has developed a new range of plates specifically made for use in canteens and restaurants. Now, these plate are usually pretty dull and uninspired. Figgjo has played around with the colour and shape, but without prejudice to the stacking capability or durability requirements.

A container rebuild to a restaurant or a coffee bar, we have seen before. The SushiBOX is a new example, located in Texas. The compact eatery fits inside a 20 inch shipping container that has three sides, which can unfold to create open awnings.

McDonald’s promotes his famous McNuggets and its range of dip sauces by using the elevator to create illusion nuggets that were dipped into sauces. Watch the movie.  

Mobile app enables F&B ordering from seats at sport events

The  free Yorder app let sports fans order food and beverages from their seats, so they don’t have to get up and miss any of the game. The operator Bon Appetit will send a worker to the fan’s seat with the order in 15 to 20 minutes.

 

The world’s first airport library for eBooks

At Taoyuan International Airport (Taiwan), waiting passengers can now borrow iPads and eReaders to keep their passengers entertained. The e-library has four hundred titles in its collection, available in English or Chinese, which can be read in the airport, but not taken away or downloaded onto the user’s own device.

In the marketplace Nehru Place, in Asia, is the pub First Floor located. Despite of zillions of shops, the people did not spend their time in the pub. The marketplace is infested with billboards, but the people have learnt to ignore them. So First Floor got Human Direction Signs ‘drunk’. They were pretending to be happily passed out at various spots with the distance and direction to the pub. According to First Floor they saw a 62 % increase in customers.
