Schools connect with local farms

The Californian initiative Ag Link connects schools to the local farmers. Before, all the fruits and vegetables where order outside California, whilst most of the schools are surrounded by farmers. Ag Link is an online initiative to ensure that more school kids will eat fruits and vegetables and will get to know the farmers.
Cider of unused fruit

In 2010, initiators John Burgess, Peter Newton and Rochelle Schwartz started to produce cider made of unused apples (and pears). This unused fruit comes from the many apple trees in the suburban of London, which caused ruined laws and attracted wasps. They started to collect this fruit to produce cider. Consumers who delivered the apples, receive the cider and a discount on more bottles.

Payments go more and more digital. Now you can leave an electronical tip with the DipJar. This is a small device for in restaurants and hotels. Users insert their credit card, take it out and wait for the confirmation sound to indicate the transaction, which is always $ 1,=, was successful. Want to leave a bigger tip? You can insert your card as many times as you prefer.

Through software of TomTom, the guest knows exactly when to expect the taxi. The Taxi Butler will be available in the restaurants, hotels and cafes and the hospitals in Amsterdam.

Last summer the roof terrace of the Netil360 building in Hackney (London) was often a bubbley scene. Asher Charman organized ‘Hottub Cinema’ nights, where people enjoyed cinema and champagne from inflatable hot tubs.
Crowd funded beer from 1463

The Voor en door Goor foundation will herintroduce an ancient special beer brew from 1463. The project will be financed by crowd funding. The aim is to build a brewery in Goor, that will function as a tourist magnet.
QR-code label for shy beer drinkers

In Harry’s Bar (Singapore) it’s easy for shy customers to connect with other people. They can do this through a QR-code label on the beer bottle. The beer sales doubled because of the stunt. See the video.
Meatballs restaurant in Amsterdam

Meatballs opened last week in Amsterdam. It’s the first meatball shop in the Netherlands. Meatball restaurants in Belgium and in the USA are a huge success.
Urban farming at Hoog Catharijne

Corio and Biet & Boon are working together to develop a pop-up roof garden project on shopping mall Hoog Catharijne in Utrecht. The harvest goes to local restaurants, offices and volunteers. Earlier this year the largest roof garden opened in Amsterdam.
