Ikea has found a very clever way to publishe their new catalog. In a number of cinemas promotion teams projected the names and prices of IKEA products on screen. This happened two or three times in each movie, next to George Clooney and Cynthia Nixon (SATC). During the credits there was a referral to the IKEA catalog, which was also distributed afterwards.

 

An apple a day…

On January 19th  (Utrecht Central Station), January 21st (Amsterdam Central Station) and Jan 26th (The Hague Central Station) orange lunchboxes were distributed, filled with an apple and a flyer. The distribution was part of a European campaign ‘Apple. Fruit of all pleasure’ of the FruitsVegetables Office. The aim of the campaign is to create a healthy work ethics for employees.

McDonalds is committed to the real Dutch winterfeeling. The Dutch Winter Weeks started in Sneek. People with skates around the neck were given a free burger. For a period of six weeks the menu holds genuine winterproducts. In addition, the guests are given an opportunity to win ‘winter‘ in their own street (www.wineenwinter.nl). For two days the street will be transformed in a winter setting.

Sleeping in a work of art

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and artist Höller provide a unique opportunity for a one night sleep in a museum. Guests are offered day and night access to the entire museum, a private butler and can sleep in a work of art. The Revolving Hotel Room consists of three rotating discs a wardrobe, a desk and chairs and a bed wearing. A fourth disc bears the very slowly rotating different disks

 

Truck at NYC Restaurantweek

During NYC Restaurant Week in 2010 for the first time a truck is used. The truck will be used between the 25th and 29th of January and from the first of February to the 5th.  The truck will drive through Manhattan during lunch and people in busy locations will be offered a cup of soup. Each day a different restaurant will provide the soup. Via twitter and www.nycgo.com/restaurantweek, people can track where the truck will be located.

Google has designed a “location-based feature” for mobile phones. This technology makes it easy for restaurants, bars and ATMs to be found in an unknown area. ‘Near Me Now’ is available on the Google homepage, I-Phone and Android. Unfortunately, it is now only available in the US.

Snowball fight
