The Magnum Pleasure Store opened in Amsterdam last week. The pop-up store will only be open this summer. Visitors can create their own, custom made, Magnum ice-cream. Customizing starts with a base of vanilla ice cream dipped in white/milk/dark chocolate. Then, toppings can be added such as hazelnuts, meringue pieces, coconut, nougat or brownie pieces. Visitors experience a moment of joy and peace in the store. Before, the Magnum Pleasure Store was already available in London, Paris and Milan.

Niven pop up Amsterdam

After the great success of the pop-up restaurants in Amsterdam last January, star chef Niven Kunz will transform ‘People’s Place’, the canteen of the European headquarter of Tommy Hilfiger into a temporary restaurant. From Sunday June 30th till Thursday July 4th, Niven serves 10 signature dishes. A special lunch for parents with children is organized on Sunday to let families experience and taste vegetable dishes. Together with a matching slow-juice arrangement.

Urban Farm in Amsterdam

The urban farm in Amsterdam-Noord will be a place where you can gather fresh produce and enjoy the green and productive scenery of the countryside in the middle of the city. At the farm products like fresh fruits, vegetables are grown and it will be a place where pigs and chickens are free to roam and graze. A team of 15 enthusiastic students and professionals have started to develop an economically viable business case for the urban farm. Currently, the enthusiasts behind the urban farm are looking for donations.

Earlier we saw that ‘Buitengewoon in het land’ served dinners in the outdoors. This year on June 28, a 5-course dinner of seasonal products will be served on the roof of the building ‘Zuidpark’ in Amsterdam. On the roof of the building there is a 3,000 square meter ‘Urban Farm‘ developed. At the center of this farm, the dinner of ‘Buitengewoon in het land’ will be served. Wannemakers Amsterdam

Our former colleague Christel Hendriks started working at a new hotspot in Amsterdam; Wannemakers!. Since early 2013 Wannemakers! opened its doors at the Singel in Amsterdam. At Wannemakers! you imagine yourself in a ‘La Dolce Vita’ atmosphere and surprising and enjoyment are high priorities. Wannemakers! is open from 08.00 am onwards for breakfast, lunch or dinner. But also for a cup of Single Estate coffee or a coffee-to-go. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday and offers a French-inspired menu which is being renewed every two to three weeks. During the summer guests can relax on the terrace that is located next to the canal.

Lobster in Amsterdam

The new lobster and fish restaurant ‘The Lobster House + Studio’ opens its doors on the Frederiksplein in Amsterdam. You can go there for a dinner with oysters or lobsters but also for fresh sandwiches, salades and pasta with fish. The restaurant is located in an old parking garage. That gifs it an industrial look and feel. Look at the website for the menu.

Ibericus Amsterdam

On the 8th of December, Ibericus Amsterdam opened its doors. This specialty shop, located in the Haarlemmerstraat, offers several delicacies of the famous Ibérico pig, also known by the unoffical nickname ‘the Pata-Negra pig’. The ham will be cut on the spot, or served on a sandwich to-go or to enjoy in the seating of the shop. Ibericus Amsterdam is open seven days a week.

Minus Twenty in Amsterdam

The new freezer store Min Twintig (Minus Twenty) opened at the Haarlemmerdijk in Amsterdam. They offer lots of different one person meals. The meals are directly frozen after preparation without the use of preservatives. They offer serveral soups, hotchpots, fish and meat dishes.

Barkode techno club Amsterdam

Saturday the new club Barkode at the Wagenstraat in Amsterdam opens its doors. The concrete, robust decoration, give the visitor the feeling that everything is allowed. No strict door policy, glamour or glitters. Everybody is welcome, even wearing regular jeans and sneakers. Co-owner Kim Loman says: “Its about time that the Berlin influences also appear in Amsterdam.”
