Since the first of July, Leiden has a new wine bar! At Haven 62, Ottovino wines & bites has opened its doors. After a successful first week, during which the team had the opportunity to further refine the concept, Ottovino is now officially introducing itself to the people of Leiden. With more than thirty wines by the glass, a carefully curated wine list and refined bites, the wine bar aims to become a regular meeting place for wine lovers in the city.<\/p>\n

Ottovino wines & bites in the historic city centre of Leiden <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ottovino wines & bites Leiden<\/a> is housed in a characterful building on the Haven, overlooking the Zijlpoort. Over the past few months, the premises have been fully renovated, preserving the historic character while combining it with a warm, contemporary interior, with a new bar as the centrepiece. The wine bar is designed as a place where guests can drop in spontaneously for a good glass of wine, but just as easily stay for the entire evening. The Leiden location is led by Geert Jan Cazemier<\/a>. He has been active in the wine world since 2004, has lived in Leiden for many years, and sees the city as the ideal home for Ottovino wines & bites.<\/p>\n

“Leiden has a beautiful historic city centre, a vibrant hospitality scene and people who enjoy quality. That fits perfectly with our concept. We want to be a wine bar where everyone feels welcome, whether you know a lot about wine or simply fancy a good glass in a relaxed atmosphere.”<\/p>\n

The wine list has more than 30 wines by the glass<\/strong><\/h3>\n

That vision is reflected throughout the wine list. Ottovino<\/a> works primarily with wines from its own import, sourced from Europe and South Africa, with an emphasis on smaller, independent winemakers. Rather than an extensive wine list with hundreds of options, a conscious choice has been made for a focused selection of distinctive wines.\u00a0More than thirty wines are available by the glass, alongside a wide choice by the bottle. A selection of premium wines is served using the Coravin system, making it possible to offer more exclusive wines by the glass. Wines start from \u20ac6 per glass, keeping the wine bar accessible to a wide audience. If a wine proves a favourite, it can also be ordered through Ottovino to enjoy at home. The bites at Ottovino wines & bites<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Alongside wine, Ottovino serves refined bites: small dishes specially curated to complement the wines. Guests who don’t drink wine are also well catered for, with options including craft beer from Lindeboom, spritz cocktails, soft drinks and alcohol-free wine.<\/p>\n

Ottovino wines & bites is open Wednesday through Sunday. The Leiden location is the second location of the concept. The first wine bar, in Blaricum<\/a>, recently came third in the \u2018Wijnbar van het Jaar\u2019 (Wine Bar of the Year) competition. Later this year, a third location will open in Naarden-Vesting.<\/p>\n
