In August, boutique hotel The Diamond is opening its doors on Amsterdam’s bustling Leidseplein. This much talked-about hotel, designed by architect Robert Meijer, also brings back Grand Caf\u00e9 Heineken Hoek, fully restyled and ready to make new hospitality history. The Diamond will open in phases, with more new concepts being introduced at the hotel after August.<\/p>\n

Grand Caf\u00e9 Heineken Hoek <\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Heineken Hoek<\/a> (Corner) has been a household name on Leidseplein for decades. To underline that iconic status, the development of the new boutique hotel The Diamond<\/a> has kept space from the outset to bring back the Heineken Hoek fully adapted to modern standards. As familiar, visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee, lunch, dinner or a cosy drink on the terrace. The extensive menu, the beautiful new interior and of course the unique location ensure that the Heineken Hoek remains one of Amsterdam’s most distinctive caf\u00e9s for everyone, now and in the future.<\/p>\n

Boutique hotel The Diamond<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Diamond is run as a joint venture between experienced hospitality and hotel operators Yip Group<\/u><\/a> and Q Hospitality Group<\/a>. The current management team consists of nine people, including executive chef Thomas Kooijman<\/a>, who is responsible for all kitchens at The Diamond and chef of the Heineken Hoek Enrico Westkamp<\/a>. Mathilde van der Weerd<\/a>, who started as pre-opening manager more than a year ago, will take on the day-to-day management as director of both The Diamond and Heineken Hoek. Mathilde says: “The diversity of the different, yet-to-be-opened, food & beverage concepts, combined with the exclusivity of the hotel, makes this a unique opportunity as a lover of hospitality.”<\/p>\n

The team at The Diamond is young and energetic, with a shared passion for the city of Amsterdam and culinary experiences. They share the ambition to let visitors relax, discover and enjoy the city’s unique charm. The reopening of Grand Caf\u00e9 Heineken Hoek fits seamlessly with this vision. “The inviting look and ever-open doors make everyone feel welcome at all times. The Heineken Hoek has a rich history and we want to add new chapters to it. From breakfast until late in the evening, this will remain a meeting place for both Amsterdam residents and visitors to the city.” says Mathilde said.<\/p>\n

Unique design for boutique hotel The Diamond<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Diamond is already seen as one of the most talked-about hotels of our Dutch capital. Architect Robert Meijer has chosen a design that forms an integral part of the urban renewal of Leidseplein and its surroundings. The building height matches the surrounding buildings. At the same time, the design tells the story of the city in which the trade in precious stones once reigned. This theme comes to life through the shimmering glass fa\u00e7ade, inspired by the famous Koh-I-Noor diamond. Decorated with carefully composed furniture, the 36 luxurious rooms offer a unique blend of international sophistication and contemporary Dutch design.<\/p>\n

Interior Grand Caf\u00e9 Heineken Hoek<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The interior of the renovated Heineken Hoek was provided by Woodfever Hospitality Interior<\/a>. They have combined the iconic feel of the Heineken Hoek with a modern twist.
