We love the tradition of Claridge\u2019s, London\u2019s legendary Mayfair hotel, to have their Christmas Tree decorated by a, as they call it, long-time friend of the hotel. We have articles on many of their Christmas Trees decorated by famous designer friends, like for example Christian Louboutin<\/a> in 2019 and Karl Lagerfeld<\/a> back in 2017. This year it\u2019s Louis Vuitton and we love their Art of Travel theme! <\/em><\/p>\n

The Claridge\u2019s Christmas Tree 2023 by Louis Vuitton brings together two illustrious names who have long celebrated the Art of Travel and crossed paths throughout their respective histories after both being founded in 1854.<\/p>\n

Claridge\u2019s Christmas Tree 2023 <\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Claridge\u2019s<\/a> Christmas Tree 2023 by Louis Vuitton<\/a> is a magnificent sculptural creation immersed within two large open, emblematic Malles Vestiaire or \u2018Wardrobe Trunks\u2019 towering on top of each other at the height of 5.2 metres. Each signature trunk is adorned with Claridge\u2019s travel stickers of yesteryear and an oversized Louis Vuitton<\/u> luggage tag. As an avid collector and traveler, Gaston-Louis Vuitton (Louis Vuitton\u2019s grandson) amassed hotel stickers throughout his life and would often place them onto his luggage as mementos.<\/p>\n

Exuding a festive charm, the tree is composed of 15 vertically placed chrome repurposed trunks of varying heights that tower to create the silhouette of a traditional Christmas tree and reflect the Art Deco architecture. Taking center stage at the peak of the tree is Asni\u00e8res, the historic Louis Vuitton family home and atelier. Famously located on the riverbanks of Paris, Asni\u00e8res is the heart of the Maison\u2019s creation and home to the original the Louis Vuitton wardrobe trunk. Scattered atop the silver trunks and amidst the snowy landscape of the tree are 21 Louis Vuitton Vivienne mascots, including Father Christmas himself, all found within Claridge\u2019s distinguished black and white marbled lobby.<\/p>\n

The hotel\u2019s Louis Vuitton trunk envelopes the magical Claridge\u2019s Christmas Tree, just as the Maison\u2019s iconic wardrobe trunk, a hard-sided case created in 1875, was dedicated to transporting one\u2019s most personal and precious effects.<\/p>\n

Some history of the Art of Travel to the Claridge\u2019s\u00a0 <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Stepping back in time, the 1850\u2019s saw Monsieur Louis Vuitton himself appointed as the personal layetier to Empress Eug\u00e9nie, wife of Napoleon III. The Empress \u2013 at the same time \u2013 made Claridge\u2019s her winter residence, famously receiving visits from Queen Victoria which led to the hotel being known as the annex to Buckingham Palace. It was Louis Vuitton who would have packed the Empress\u2019s trunks himself for her stays at Claridge\u2019s. The Maison\u2019s first London store opened in 1885 around the corner from Claridge\u2019s. Ever since, its legendary trunk \u2013 the quintessence of Louis Vuitton\u2019s unique savoir-faire \u2013 has crossed the Mayfair hotel\u2019s threshold in its thousands.<\/p>\n
