A gin that represents the essence of Norway both inside and out, thanks in part to its ingredients and harsh living conditions. The gin is therefore described as tough, spicy, full of character, dark and wild.<\/p>\n

In Bareksten Botanical Gin<\/a>, you taste the berries and herbs from the Norwegian nature, processed by Norwegian hands. The craft and philosophy perfected over generations and now overseen by master blender and distiller Stig Bareksten. The result is a gin that has already won several awards, made with 26 botanicals, 19 of which grow in the immediate vicinity of the distillery. Produced in small quantities, the gin is subtle and fruity, with hints of wild blueberries, blueberries, rhubarb, elderflower and mint. The aromas are reminiscent of the forest: earthy, woody and a hint of pine. They blend with the classic characteristics of a gin, such as the freshness of citrus and juniper berries.<\/p>\n

Former top bartender Stig Bareksten<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The man behind Bareksten Botanical Gin is Stig Barkesten, one of the leading distillers and entrepreneurs who has already won several awards. As a former top bartender, he knows the world of drinks like the back of his hand. His experience behind the bar has already taken him to brands such as The Macallan and The Famous Grouse, but he is truly at home at Oss Craft Distillery<\/a>, where he produces his own line of spirits.<\/p>\n

Stig Bareksten: ‘Five years ago, I started developing this gin. It had to be a true Norwegian gin, made from potato and the soft Scandinavian water. A gin in which the terroir comes out clearly; floral, fruity and bushy. The first time I saw the gin drip from the distillation flask, I knew I had achieved what I wanted. My Gin is elegant and balanced with a full and rich flavour, brought about by the unusually long distillation process and the low alcohol content at which we start the distillation. It is a traditional gin made in an untraditional way.’<\/p>\n

Norwegian company Bareksten was founded in 2016 by Stig Bareksten and Petter Eikeland. The brand includes several botanical spirits: three gins, an aquavit, an absinthe, an herbal bitters, a liqueur and two limited editions.
