On Saturday March 25, the official reintroduction of the age-old drink brand Rynbende and the launch of its first old genever, Rynbende Vintage Genever, will take place in collaboration with the Jenever Museum during the Jenever Festival in Schiedam. The first bottle will be handed over to the mayor of Schiedam; Cor Lamers.<\/p>\n

Rybende Vintage Genever<\/strong><\/h3>\n

With the launch of the Vintage Genever that is called \u2018The Mayor of Exploration\u2019, the old brand Rynbende makes a comeback after 40 years. At the Dutch Genever Festival<\/a>, an annual event in Schiedam, held in the Havenkerk and the museum, the starting signal for Rynbende Spirits B.V.<\/a> will be given with the product presentation and the offering of the first bottle to the mayor of Schiedam. Rynbende Spirits B.V. is led by Sjaak Pappe and Erik Post.<\/p>\n

The history of the brand Rynbende<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Entrepreneur Erik Post: \u201cThe brand Rynbende is part of the large range of pre-war liquor brands that has its roots in Schiedam.\u201d Founded by Simon Rynbende in 1793, the brand has a long history. \u201cThey are the creators of the famous \u2018KLM houses\u2019, unique bottle designs (popular collectors\u2019 items) and a monthly magazine (that has people like Simon Carmiggelt writing for it)\u201d, says Post. In the 1980\u2019s the brand disappeared from the market.<\/p>\n

Sjaak Pappe\u2019s grandfather, Job Kramer Freher, started working in 1911 even though he was only a 15 year old Jack of all trades. After becoming a genever distiller and foreman, he later worked as a manager from 1940 till his retirement in 1963 at the Simon Rynbende distillery. Pappe spend his childhood in and around the distillery. Grandfather and grandson shared the same dream of independently launching liquors.<\/p>\n

By inheriting the recipe book of grandfather Job, the twelve year long journey for Pappe started. The brand became his, which made it possible to realize his dream and revive the heritage. \u201cThe brand Rynbende is part of the large range of pre-war liquor brands that has its roots in Schiedam, the gin and genever capital of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new direction of Rynbende Spirits<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Rynbende Vintage Genever is based on one of the recipes of the old recipe book and is a tribute to Simon who was a distiller, but also a successful businessman, cantonal judge, mayor of Schiedam and a sailorman. Hence the name \u2018The Mayor of Exploration\u2019. Rynbende Spirits will take another direction than the old Rynbende brand. Behind the scences, Pappe is busy developing his \u2018Rynbende Community\u2019 that will soon launch different kinds of activities and products.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
