Music lovers can enjoy music in many different styles this summer in Utrecht at the \u2018Klooster (Convent) Summer Festival at the hotel The Anthony. The atmospheric hotel organizes a musical event once or twice a week in August and September, in collaboration with Utrecht partners such as brewery vandeStreek<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hotel The Anthony | connecting with the neighborhood and city<\/h3>\n

Wouter Visser, general manager of hotel The Anthony: “This music festival is a new project with which we seek to connect with the neighborhood where our hotel is located and in a broader context with the residents of the city of Utrecht. It fits in with the list of cultural initiatives we have already organized: our food festival, our film days and our changing art exhibitions.”<\/p>\n

The summer music festival started on Friday, July 29 with a live performance on the front terrace by the duo Olina Acoustic, who performed pop classics from the past and present supported by guitar. On Fridays, the performances are in changing musical styles on the front terrace, with snacks adapted to each performance. A jazz band performs in the courtyard every Sunday from 12:00-16:00 under the name Easy Sunday Afternoon.<\/p>\n

About hotel The Anthony<\/h3>\n

The Anthony is a luxurious hotel with a monumental character and a trendy interior, housed in a former Utrecht convent dating from 1908. This belonged to the St. Anthony’s Church opposite and functioned mainly as a school building for a long time. After a thorough renovation in 2019, the building has changed considerably, “but the holy spirit of the home has remained intact,” says Wouter Visser. During the week, the hotel accommodates business travelers and on the weekends people doing a weekend in Utrecht for fun.<\/p>\n
