{"id":71296,"date":"2020-12-01T16:30:22","date_gmt":"2020-12-01T15:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/?p=71296"},"modified":"2020-12-01T16:30:22","modified_gmt":"2020-12-01T15:30:22","slug":"the-berkeley-unveils-winter-at-the-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/the-berkeley-unveils-winter-at-the-garden\/","title":{"rendered":"The Berkeley unveils \u2018Winter at The Garden\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday 3rd December, as The Berkeley reopens its doors to all, the hotel will reveal a new festive addition: Winter at The Garden.\u00a0 Following the summer sell out success of The Garden and now reimagined for the winter months, this culinary terrace spot will consist of five cosy wooden cabins, each seating up to six diners.\u00a0 These cabins, glittering with flickering candles, will be decked with wreaths courtesy of McQueens, and surrounded by a forest of fir trees and fairy lights.\u00a0 Guests will be armed with blankets and heaters to keep warm.\u00a0 A menu of alpine specialties, built around a showstopping raclette grill, will delight eager guests after weeks of eating at home.<\/p>\n<p><em>The UK is getting out of their lockdown tomorrow December 2 just after midnight, at that moment the country will go back to a three tier system. Only if you\u2019re located in a tier 3 region, the restaurants and pubs aren\u2019t allowed to open. London for example is located in a tier 2 region (most regions are tier 2), the rules here are:<\/em><em> \u2018<\/em><em>Pubs and bars can only open if they serve substantial meals. Alcohol can be served with that meal. Pubs and restaurants must shut at 23:00 GMT, with last orders at 22:00 GMT.\u2019 We wish that this was the case here in the Netherlands as well! <\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u2018Winter at The Garden\u2019 | Enjoy fondue and much more <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Winter at The Garden will offer a menu of seasonal plates in convivial eating style \u2013 the antidote to lockdown living and perfect wintertime dining. Guests will be welcomed with fondue and toasted sourdough \u2013 a signature touch from the team. Starters include a trio of rostis flourished with different toppings \u2013 beetroot cured smoked salmon, Ib\u00e9rico Bellota ham and watercress, and saut\u00e9ed cep and king oyster mushrooms.\u00a0 Alongside will be smoked beef hot dog \u2018sliders\u2019 topped with sauerkraut, jalepeno and smoked cheddar and a hearty oxtail soup with toasted Gruy\u00e8re croute.\u00a0 Next comes the main event \u2013 each cabin will be provided with its own authentic raclette grill, straight from the slopes, for \u2018build your own\u2019 indulgent dishes.\u00a0 A feast of carefully-sourced cheeses, meats and vegetables will be bought to the table for diners to pick and choose, customise and grill \u2013 Morbier, Gouda, pastrami, smoked duck, Coppa ham, baby potato wedges, confit pickled onions, chestnut mushrooms and artichokes are all among this smorgasbord of delicious ingredients.\u00a0 Additional star ingredients will be also available to add on and order \u2013 Gorgonzola, native lobster tails, Wagyu beef, grilled tofu and vegetable skewers, lamb Merguez sausages and shaved black winter truffle are all on this very special menu.\u00a0 Guests will be encouraged to grill their own Wagyu or give their lobster a final sizzle.<\/p>\n<p>Decadent desserts are designed to share, comfort and wow, from apple and raisin strudel and pear and blackberry crumble, to a hot chocolate brownie complete with molten centre and accompanied by bourbon vanilla ice cream.\u00a0 The flamb\u00e9ed baked Alaska is set to be a standout dish, and will feature three different flavours of ice cream \u2013 chocolate, orange and macadamia.\u00a0 Finally, the Winter Garden team will be on hand to present a very special hot chocolate tableside \u2013 served short and punchy \u2013 as Valrhona chocolate is mixed with a generous glug of either rum or whisky.<\/p>\n<p>The drinks list showcases a wide range of craft beer, wines, champagnes and hot cider.\u00a0 Classic cocktails are also available.\u00a0 The beer menu, in particular, has been a key focus \u2013 all hail from Belgium including some rare bottles for guests to discover.\u00a0 Special varieties are housed in big bottles, to be served in the style of a champagne pour.<\/p>\n<p>Winter at The Garden is open from Thursday 3rd December 2020.\u00a0 Dinner sittings are 6pm-8pm or 8.30-10.30pm seven days a week, with two lunch sittings \u2013 noon-2pm and 2.30-4.30pm \u2013 on Friday \u2013 Sunday.\u00a0 Cabins are priced at \u00a3450 per sitting, for up to six guests.
