In June, the very first covered \u2018jeu de boules\u2019 bar in Rotterdam North opens its doors: \u2018Mooie Boules\u2019 (Beautiful Boules). The old, characteristic metal factory in the upcoming ZOHO quarter in Rotterdam will be transformed into a French village square. Local restaurants (the names of which are not yet disclosed), will serve their signature dishes and at the bar a wide range of wine, specialty and local beers will be available. All this in combination with a game of \u2018jeu de boules\u2019. The location in Rotterdam opens on Vijverhofstraat 45 in Rotterdam-North in June. It seems like the Dutch love to play the famous French game!<\/p>\n

\u2018Jeu de Boules\u2019-food hall \u2018Mooie Boules\u2019 has expansion plans, first Rotterdam and then\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Daan van Hal, an entrepreneur in Rotterdam, fell in love with the building where \u2018Mooie Boules<\/a>\u2019 will soon open its doors. The space offers many possibilities and reminded him of the old sheds in New York where locals are playing shuffleboard<\/a>. When he came in contact with Rogier van Genugten it was clear to him that the wheel doesn\u2019t have to be reinvented.<\/p>\n

The indoor \u2018jeu de boules\u2019\u2019 – food hall that Rogier opened in Amsterdam last year is a great success. One thing was certain to him: the formula had to come to Rotterdam. Together with Rogier, Daan inspired his hospitality friends and together they will open this new location where the Dutch can play this nostalgic \u2018holiday\u2019 game. Playing \u2018jeu de boules\u2019 is part of the holiday memories of many Dutchies who learnt to play it at campsites in France. \u2018Mooie Boules\u2019 Rotterdam will be the place where food, drink, entertainment and fun come together. The large people playground for friends, colleagues or family.<\/p>\n

We wrote earlier about the opening of the first branch in Amsterdam<\/a> in July 2018 and our colleague Vera Rauwerda went to play the game and wrote a blog about it with the title: “Old-fashioned but so gezellig (cozy)”. On the website of \u2018Mooie Boules\u2019 you can read that there are also plans for branches in Eindhoven (opening in the middle of summer), Delft, Breda, The Hague, Amsterdam and Nijmegen.
