Recently we spotted the opening of Royal Palm Shuffle Club in Chicago, a club located in a large old warehouse offering games of shuffleboard. It\u2019s one of the many concepts opening lately where you go if you want to have a great night out by playing a game and have a few drinks. Whether it\u2019s darts, ping pong or shuffleboard.<\/p>\n

Royal Palm Shuffleboard Club | The rules<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As many of us don\u2019t even know what shuffleboard exactly is, a quick \u2018how to play\u2019 manual: the game is played with two teams with each team getting four \u2018biscuits\u2019. The goal is to get your biscuit into the scoring triangle at the other side of the court. After the 8 \u2018biscuits\u2019 have been played, the first \u2018frame\u2019 has been played. A full match is 8 frames and whoever has most points after the last frame wins the game.<\/p>\n

Royal Palm Shuffleboard Club Chicago<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The game is especially popular among groups, after a first location in New York, the club opened its second in Chicago. With 11 gleaming regulation-sized, cruise-ship-style shuffleboard courts, tropical pensioners and is played regularly on cruise ships, but with the openings of The Royal Palm Shuffleboard Clubs<\/a> other target cocktails, flamingo-flocked bathrooms, a glamorously juicy roof deck, vinyl-spinning deejays, oversized board games and a resort-worthy staff, The Royal Palms is a 20,000 square foot, sun-drenched oasis that promises to keep Chicago on vacation all year long. Nice addition: a daily rotating cast of (indoor!) food trucks.<\/p>\n

Playing games during a night out <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Concepts in which \u2018playing games\u2019 is the main purpose of the evening remain popular, especially among Millenials. Last year we wrote about the rebirth of arcade games<\/a> and since then we have seen many examples of concepts primarily focusing on particular games\/sports.
