For our English followers, have a great Pancake Day today! Here in the Netherlands we don\u2019t celebrate Pancake day on Shrove Tuesday like in the UK and USA. On Shrove Day we often eat \u2018stamppot\u2019, a Dutch meal that consist of mashed potatoes, vegetables and meat. Shrove Tuesday is the day that precedes Ash Wednesday. As it is determined by Easter, for which the actual date changes on an annual basis. In the US it’s called Mardi Gras (French for ‘Fat Tuesday’) mainly because they use up the fatty foods before Lent. Pancake Day itself came much later as a way of using up rich foods, like eggs, milk and sugar before the 40 days of fasting. Three-legged pancake race | At Pancake Day in restaurant Where The Pancakes Are<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Where The Pancakes Are<\/a> is based in London, located at 85a Southwark Bridge Road and it has a Dutch female chef, Patricia Trijbits. The place itself has wooden, minimal Japanese\/Scandinavian-style interiors that were constructed in Amsterdam before being shipped whole to London, and installed in the railway arch they now call home. She is serving Stacks, Dutch Babies and buckwheat blinis. At Pancake Day they organize three-legged pancake races and serve a special menu which is in part inspired by the fabulous condiments produced by the \u201cNo Food Waste\u201d champions behind Rubies in the Rubble<\/a>. The pop-up for Pancake Day takes place in Apr\u00e8s, a cosy chalet just 30 seconds from the restaurant.<\/p>\n

Served at the Long Bar at Sanderson<\/a> in London at Pancake Day! According to this website they created the cocktail with homemade pancakes and blueberries with lemon and maple syrup, a dash of mustika liqueur for good measure, topped with fresh cream.<\/p>\n

Sosharu | Matcha Mille Crepes<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sosharu<\/a> has a \u2018Franco-Japanese fusion\u2019 cuisine, they\u2019re serving Matcha Mille Crepes, with layer upon layer of crepes sandwiched together with matcha cream, plus a scoop of matcha sorbet and Chantilly cream on the side.<\/p>\n

The Breakfast Club invites chefs to create limited editions for Pancake Day<\/strong><\/h3>\n

For this year\u2019s Pancake Day celebrations The Breakfast Club<\/a> has asked a line-up of chefs to create a limited edition collaboration menu of pancake dreams. This menu will be available across all the 16 cafes from the 12th<\/sup> till the 18th of February. Our colleague Marjolein van Spronsen just wrote a blog about collaborations between chefs on all kind of levels, like Indian food, Pita bread, chefs with Michelin stars and also on the pancake level.<\/p>\n

Pancakes and Cider<\/strong><\/h3>\n

At Where The Pancakes Are<\/a> and at Mamies<\/a>\u00a0at 19 Catherine Street, they have a special corner in their menu for ciders. It must be a great combination with pancakes especially with the savory galettes (made with buckwheat flower) they serve at Mamies.<\/p>\n

Espresso Martini pancake stacks <\/strong><\/h3>\n
