A brand new bar and restaurant with a focus on pickles and ferments. The food menu is Asian-inspired and is made up of snacks, small plates and flatbreads and they have an innovative cocktail menu.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>On the menu at Pickled Fred<\/h3>\n<p>The Asian-inspired food menu at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thepickledfred\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pickled Fred<\/a> includes dishes like a Jackfruit Scotch Egg with masala mayonnaise, grilled octopus with harissa chickpeas, pickled red onions and preserved lemon, and Beef Shin &amp; Bone Marrow Rendang with pickled red chillies and crispy shallots. We know that lots of chefs use the process of fermenting to create special sauces or vegetables, in Amsterdam we spotted \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/spingaren-tasting-room-restaurant-charcuterie-and-pickles-vegetables-and-fish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spingaren tasting room &amp; restaurant<\/a>\u2019 this July. It started as \u2018grab and go\u2019 this January and has recently opened its restaurant doors where they also sell charcuterie artisanal, pickles and ferment vegetables and fish. At Pickled Fred they have a cocktail menu featuring \u2018Fred\u2019s Preserver\u2019 and a \u2018Smoking Goat\u2019. Doesn\u2019t those names make you curious? Pickled Fred is located at 61 Hanbury Street.<\/p>\n<h3>Shoreditch and Haggerston<\/h3>\n<p>Last July we visited Shoreditch and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere in this part of London. Lots of new restaurants with all kinds of influences. We ate at the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobuhotelshoreditch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nobu location<\/a> and we spotted amongst others the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arancinibrothers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arancini Brothers<\/a> (\u2018We make Risotto Balls\u2019) there. I really don\u2019t understand why Arancini isn\u2019t on every Italian menu, especially in the Netherlands where we love \u2018bitterballen\u2019. We ate at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moritohackneyroad.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MORITO<\/a> Hackney Road in the nearby neighborhood Haggerston, here the menu is influenced from Southern Spain, North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean. Lots of simple dishes with great taste. And now we read that \u2018Pickled Fred\u2019 has opened its doors in August. Makes us wanna go back and stay longer!
