Starship Technologies, the company that develops robots that can deliver independent products, has announced that their robots will deliver pizzas in different European cities. This in collaboration with \u00a0Domino’s Pizza Enterprises (DPE), Domino’s Pizza\u2019s leading franchisee in for example the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The ‘Domino\u2019s Pizza robots’ project is part of the DRU (Domino’s Robotic Unit)-framework, an initiative that works towards the \u2018goal\u2019 of delivering pizzas by using robots.<\/p>\n

Domino\u2019s Pizza robots<\/strong> | The collaboration<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Starship-robots will soon start delivering pizzas in selected Dutch and German cities. This in a radius of approximately 1 to 1.5 kilometers around Domino’s<\/a> locations.<\/p>\n

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises is worlds\u2019 largest Domino’s Pizza franchisee. The company is active in seven countries and delivers, on a daily base, hundred thousands of pizzas in more than 2,000 stores. Domino\u2019s Robotic Unit (DRU) is going to guide the project. It\u2019s not the first time they tested pizza deliveries by using drones and robots. In 2016, Australia and New Zealand had the first tested ground and air deliveries.<\/p>\n

Ahti Heinla, Chief Executive Officer of Starship Technologies<\/a> said the following: “We have the same vision as Dominos: continuously improve customer satisfaction. Dominos does not only make delicious pizzas – if you return the luxury of time and control to the customer, that will be the perfect topping. Using our robots are the ideal way to do that.”<\/p>\n

According to Don Meij, Domino\u2019s Group CEO and Managing Director, the collaboration between Domino’s and Starship Technologies is an important next step to deliver pizza\u2019s by using Domino\u2019s Pizza robots.<\/p>\n

“We are active worldwide and we want to develop innovative technologies in all the countries we are active in. We are very excited about the cooperation with Starship, because the delivery done by robots brings us one step closer to achieve our \u2018goals\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andre Ten Wolde, Domino’s CEO in Netherlands & Belgium, adds the following: “The robots are an addition to our current delivery methods, such as e-bikes, scooters and cars. This ensures that our employees can always deliver a hot, freshly made pizza to our customers, wherever they are. ”<\/p>\n

“If you look at our growth plans for the next five to ten years, we need to develop these ideas to have enough employees.\u201d<\/p>\n
