The overall flavor experience is a result of the combination between scent and taste. While the tongue only tastes 5 sensations (sweet, bitter, sour, salt and umami), it is the sense of smell that’s responsible for 80% of the flavor experience. That’s the reason you hardly taste any flavors at all when your nose is stuffed.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the inventors decided to insert fruit scent and flavours into the cup. When you drink water from it, your nose picks up the fruity aroma\u2019s and your tongue senses the hint of fruitiness. Unusual, because you actually drink nothing but water.
