As from the 7th of May this pop-up restaurant will be open for four weekends in a row. The only thing you can order here is toast with a spread. The bread is from different bakeries from the region and all the spreads are homemade.

TOAST Toronto

The idea for TOAST comes from Lindsay Agnew, Amrita Singh and Chef Jo Lusted, who all work in the TV business. They are making cooking shows for the TV station CBC. This is where they came up with the idea of opening a pop-up restaurant based on crafted bread and homemade spreads. Chef Jo Lusted: “Every TOAST customer will leave satisfied. The breads are deliciously hearty and when you top them with a generous smear of spread, each order is pretty as a picture, and eats like a meal.”

TOAST will be open for four weekends from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. #toastcombo: there is a possibility to choose between 30 different bread and spread combinations. All the spreads will be made by Chef Jo Lusted and the spreads are going to be combined with either dark sourdough, cheese ciabatta, semolina bread or pumkin rye bread. There breads will be made by local bakeries. The price of one single toast with topping is $ 6,-.

People who are conscious about food, are not at the right place at TOAST. TOAST embraces carbs, high-quality ingredients and big flavour. They also chose to put no gluten-free or uber-health-conscious options on the menu. People whit special diets are not at the right place here. Delectable spreads, include: salted caramel milk jam, birthday cake batter, huevos diablos, pudina cream cheese, green goddess goat cheese, plus others!

You can find the pop-up restaurant in the AvantDerm clinic in Toronto, established in the ‘Distillery District’. “Bold colour and fearless pattern are the key to transforming the space into a cool weekend destination,” says Lindsay Agnew (one of the entrepreneurs). “The bones of the clinic are rustic and beautiful and we’ll surprise customers with a jolt of freshness!”

Plans to open a permanent establishment or to expand the pop-up store haven’t been made yet. Amrita Singh: “For us, this pop-up is proof of concept. We know how we’d like to expand but first we need to get people to the door and see how they react. TOAST is comforting, it’s not intimidating, and we’re excited to bring something friendly and fun to Toronto’s food scene.”

In the line of extra ordinary pop-up restaurants: TOAST in Toronto, Canada.
