Since last week you will only get chicken who are having a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rondeel.org\/uk\/corporate-social-responsibility\/better-life-quality-mark\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018Better Life quality\u2019 mark<\/a>. \u2018Wakker Dier\u2019 to be translated as \u2018Awake Animals\u2019 is a Dutch animal welfare organisation. They started a campaign in order to get as many restaurants as possible \u2018broiler chicken free\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Restaurants are still behind on supermarkets<\/h3>\n<p>Despite the fact that you won\u2019t get any broiler chicken anymore in many supermarkets, restaurants are still behind. At least, many consumers are not aware of what kind of chicken they eat in restaurants. In comparison with supermarkets you won\u2019t find any specific information about the chicken on the menu card of the restaurant. Anne Hillhorst working at the \u2018Wakker Dier\u2019 organisation said the following on <a href=\"http:\/\/vroegevogels.vara.nl\/Fragment.150.0.html?tx_ttnews[tt_news]=375200&amp;cHash=693b970ea3878f26962bb4bfa1191105\" target=\"_blank\">Dutch radio<\/a>: \u201cThe restaurants who mention the type of chicken they serve on the menu, will only do so if they serve chicken with a \u2018better life\u2019 mark. There is no restaurant bragging about the fact that they serve broiler chicken. If it is not clear on the menu, ask the waiter\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>Wakker Dier campaign against the broiler chicken<\/h3>\n<p>Wakker Dier will be campaigning in the Netherlands through radio commercials and (social) media. During the campaign they will ask consumers to be critical towards restaurants when ordering chicken. Everyone can help to make as many restaurants as possible \u2018broiler chicken free\u2019 during the upcoming weeks.<\/p>\n<h3>Grill Restaurant Gauchos<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gauchosgrill.nl\/site\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gauchos Grill<\/a> is a Dutch restaurant chain where steaks are being grilled on open fire. There are twelve restaurants in the Netherlands.
