This restaurant serves dishes that are inspired on countries that the Dutch visited as soldiers in the colonial times, from Suriname to Indonesia.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Dishes from the former Dutch overseas territories<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the era of emperor Napoleon, the area of the restaurant was a military post and the new owners have been inspired by this name and now serve dishes from the former overseas territories, that the Dutch soldiers visited in the colonial times. The dishes vary from spring rolls to roti, and from curry\u2019s to gadogado. All meals are served with mango chutney &amp; sambal and in addition you can choose rice, longtong, naan bread or a roti wrap. \u2018t Soldaatje VOC also serves wines which are selected during wine trips or imported directly from the winemaker. Wine lovers can enjoy these wines for a friendly price. Quality wines without paying too much. They also have a gin\/tonic menu, a cocktail which was served a lot in that era! On the menu gins from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/garden-of-unusual-delight-by-hendricks-gin\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hendricks<\/a> and V2C and tonics from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/fever-tree-tonic\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fever Tree<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<strong>About \u2019t Soldaatje VOC<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u2019t Soldaatje, as we know it nowadays, was built in 1889. It started as a small shop with a large roofed terrace. The horses of the stagecoaches could rest here and the horsemen could drink a soda or a beer. The new restaurant has a wall with pictures of the colonial times. These are donated by families.
